Im learning fast not to over water it's better to under water than over. Every time I under water if my plants wilt a little they pop back in less than a hour over water can set you back weeks and causes all kinds of problems my first indoor grow i over watered them and didn't realize it then but it stunted my growth dramatically i realized this on my second grow when my plant of same strain and genetics did way better.

I still struggle with over watering. The more I love and water my plants the worse they do. When I started hating my plants and stopped watering, they doubled in size. My issue wasn't watering too often.... I was giving to much water, saturating the soil and drowning the roots. Now I give them a Lil bit every few days instead of a bunch to last a week
@weareinflames27 күн бұрын
My old biggest problem as well. Watering and too much, but not too often. Started going back to my old strategy of using a 5 litre pump with sprayer hose/nozzle. 1.25 litre per day on a 5 gallon (in my climate) was adequate. The water is so evenly distributed that even 1.25 litre sprayed vs poured allows better aeration and dries up/used easily and evenly on the surface. On top of that, my nutes are being used better without leaving salt buildup, or excess nitrogen in flower. Just my experience.
@PoppaLongroach27 күн бұрын
@weareinflames that's good advice! I have a sprayer with longer hose. I'm going to give that a try on couple plants. Thanks

That is why I like Coco Coir with plenty of Perlite. As long as the pots can freely drain any runoff, you literally cannot overwater your plants. If you don’t want to use liquid nutrients, just add a lot of Perlite to your soil mix. The point is to aid drainage.
@notapplicable931227 күн бұрын
what will really bake your noodle is the fix is more water more often with heavy run-off till plants recover. There is no over watering just lack of O2

My first big problem was bad soil advice. For pots, just get yourself some Happy Frog and Ocean Forest and you'll be fine. I lost 5 sprouts using plain potting soil. Over watering was my second problem. Think I got it all straight now.

@@mvb88 I use a soil meter now because what a lot of people forget is the moisture in the bottom of the pot when my soil is dry on top and I put the soil meter in just a thew inches it still says there is plenty of water still in the soil since I have used the soil meter and water when it say so my plants are much bigger now but everyone is different my friend we all have different strategies if your plan is working for you then stick to it my growmie 👍✊

My biggest starting mistake was being too impatient, until i have everything together. Having plants that need help, while waiting for your equipment to arrive is kinda depressing 😅 First weeks of wrong ph levels f'd up my ladies, thought i might get through with it, definitely brings down the end yield... 👀 To the watering topic: i'm definitely in the camp of big pots + bottom feeding, which of course doesn't work with top dressing nutrients, like the famous gaia green... The circulation of them sucking the water up, to evaporate it through the leaves, is hella beneficial, especially with dialed in environment & VPD. But i also gotta add, that I've also seen overly impressive results with astonishingly small drip fed coco pots!

@ScottyReal42027 күн бұрын
Watering outdoors will be a bit different. you can't just pick up the pot to feel how heavy it is. You will need to base the watering on the temperate and humidity out that day. It will also depend on the size of your plant and and the stage of growth you are in too.

@rickschlosser679327 күн бұрын
I’m growing autos. Technically you can go 24/0 with autos. I have tried 20/4 and didn’t like it. I now use 18/6 from seedling to cropping. They are called autos because the ‘automatically’ go into flower without the light change. This, I think, is technically called ‘non photoperiod sensitive’ and regular cannabis is ‘photoperiod sensitive’. They do this by mixing a certain percentage of ruderalis (part of the cannabis family but not photoperiod sensitive) to make them automatically go into flower at about 4 weeks. Most autos are also fast. My last crop was 65 days (fastest plant) to 85 days (slowest plant) from germination to harvest.
