@@BigCarso think about how Conte tried to get the team to park the bus and counter attack, and where that got Spurs. If you are going to swap strategy to an entirely defensive mindset then you need a better defensive unit that can turtle, but that same defensive unit probably cannot then switch to attach, with fullbacks forward into the box. Only the elite elite teams can switch to world-class attack and world-class defence to suit the needs of the game. But that's not even what happened today. Spurs were doing just fine 3-0, then Forster makes two bad mistakes and the tempo of the game changes. Sitting back in a tighter defensive structure or suddenly refusing to play out from the back doesn't correct basic errors in key moments. This is what Ange says, you can't eliminate human error with any specific strategy.

My favourite interview from Ange so far. It's been inconsistent, it's been crazy, but I can't see anyone who would be better for Spurs right now. @csa03101 Good for you! I'm a Celtic supporter. Ange was a breath of fresh air when he arrived at Celtic Park. I love his attitude that when professional footballers go out out onto the park in front of thousands of paying supporters, they have a duty to play exciting, entertaining football. That's why we pay our hard earned money to watch football games. Who knew? You win some, you lose some. Meanwhile, we can enjoy ourselves, watching exciting football even if it gets a bit daft at times. I want to see my team having a go. If it falls flat, so what? If you gave it your best shot and lost to a better team then them's the breaks. There's nothing less entertaining than watching your team spending an hour and a half trying to spoil the game and prevent any football from breaking out.

As an Aussie, can I help you with some insight into Ange and who we are? At the Olympics, we NEVER compete for silver. We may get silver, but we would prefer bronze if it meant trying, but failing in going for gold. We don’t play for draws in cricket. We always play to win. We would rather be going for a try in rugby than kick a penalty goal. If we go for a penalty goal, it’s to build scoreboard pressure, so we can score a try. We are comfortable with losing and will shake your hand and say well played, as long as we came close to death trying to win. We back our players. Loyalty and mateship are the foundation of our teams. We support and back teams in rival codes if they are Australian. If our team is depleted, we believe in next man up. When others expect us to lose, we think how good will it be to win and go for it. We are not scared of being behind, because we expect to strike back. This is who Ange is. This is who Aussies are. The question is, is this what Spurs want to be?
@caarrdd
@caarrdd Ай бұрын
I could not _believe_ so many Spurs fans preferred losing to Man City than Arsenal winning a premier league title. It's like Carlton intentionally losing so that Collingwood would not win. It would never happen. Spurs fans, maybe all English fans, cannot handle losing. They don't realise that champions have always lost just as much, often more, than they have won.

He'll have done it all by then, who can blame him. West ham would have been a perfect choice, but Celtic snuck in. @GazH-zc7jj Jesus christ. Please know you are the minority of spurs fans and dont speak for us. how i see it: Season 1: 8th (before ange) - up to 5th - we play lovely footy and sign a bunch of wonderkids. He helps turn us around after Kane leaves. Begins to change losing culture of club Season 2: 10th (now during injury crisis) - up to ???th Season 2: Progress so far. We're doing well in europe, still in all the cups. Well on track to win a trophy, breaking our drought, the thing we obsess over. Defensive and attacking stats top 4 in the league. All while a *Huge injury crisis* yet we are turning around a difficult patch.. etc etc Showing serious commitment and grit as a team. Showing we will stick to our principles and ethos, no matter what. Great sign for future progress. - Like, seriously, literally wtf *more could you want* from a manager? Is your criticism seriously just that he's a loud-mouth aussie? did you dislike jose and Poch because they talked lots too? Heck, really, I would call ange soft spoken and gruff. More a guy of action man than a speaker tbh. But his half time speeches that are on youtube are pretty inspiring youre right.

Ange provides ample character and entertaiment for the EPL and the beautiful game in general. He is a breath of fresh air for the league. The ingratitude, outright hostility and offensive behaviour of Spurs fans is a disgrace. Calling him a fat c**t and other expletives. They really don't deserve him, if they're going to be like that and if i were him, I'd happily move on to a more appreciative club.

Liverpool fan here but absolutely love this guy. At the end of the day football is entertainment and he just speaks from the heart. Is his style of football sustainable? Probably not but just enjoy the ride Spurs fans. I am worried about Sunday though, Liverpool need to be on their game. I think it's gonna be a classic.

As a neutral, they’re one of the best teams to watch. The guy has given spurs a style of play, something they hadn’t had for a long time. He improved their position in the league in his first season and you can see what he’s trying to build. With a few players back and another summer transfer window they can really kick on.

People assume sometimes that if you park the bus it will result in a win. Many times it doesn't. You end up inviting pressure on yourself. Man Utd have enough good players to win if you give them the possession. If you attack it eats up time and gives the other team something to worry about. Son doesn't score the 4th goal if he is in his own half. The mistakes from Fraser could have happened if they were playing defensive football too.
@brucescammells2817

Yeah, I reckon you're correct, and the two goals Fraser conceded looked like they came about from playing back not playing out. Ange seemed happy enough with Fraser... Everyone gave it a good crack, gotta be happy. Best Cheers

I seriously hate seeing teams park the bus, especially at 1-0. Just as a football fan in general I want to see teams play to win positively. Why would you want to totally change your tactics and game plan after scoring?? If you were good enough to score 1 then back yourself to score more and keep attacking not doubt yourself and retreat.

As a Tottenham fan, I’ve been giving Ange my full backing since his appointment. I really do believe that he is the successor to Pochettino, in terms of building the youth players in the club and competing for trophies. This is a massive confidence boost for the club, and although I know for a fact that we are losing to Liverpool in the semis, this cup run could be a morale boost for the other 2 cups! COYS

One of my special memories was watching Bobby Charlton ( from side on right in front of me) taking a penalty and leaning right back to, deliberately I believe, drive the ball over the bar with the hardest strike I've ever seen live or otherwise. The ball flew into the stand smashed into the rail and rebounded back onto the field on the full as I recall. Can't remember exactly but Man U were in front by a cricket score at the time. United were playing Queensland at the Exhibition ground in Brisbane. Dennis Law, George Best and the whole gang..!!! Thanks for letting me reminisce. Best Cheers
