James, i really can't tell you how much it's appreciated that you cover what WAY too many healthcare providers neglect.

Thank you for your videos James. This one on over-exercising is a game changer for me, makes so much sense. I am 36 and just recently have been having fatigue symptoms as you have described. I forget I am aging and have continued to exercise as hard as if I was 10 years younger. I have been exercising 5 days a week which includes 10k hilly walks and gym with cardio and weights. Recently I had a break because of a road trip holiday, I slept well and when I returned to my exercise regime results were good for a while then fatigue set in again. I now appreciate the necessity for recovery and keep away from negative territory.

For me personally, I don’t think I’m over training in the gym, but I’ve always suffered with anxiety and sometimes sleep problems throughout my life. I think the combination of anxiety and training in the gym is absolutely impacting my ability to gain muscle. Sometimes, I’ll wake up in the morning and feel like crap.

Good info. I'm constantly emotionally overdressed, and I workout almost all day just to combat that and my horrible anxiety, it's a vicious double edge sword. Im going to try focus more on nutrition and resting, because my body is feeling the effects of being constant over-stress.

I use to work out 5-6 times a week in the gym after a while my body got tired so I left. I gained weight when I stopped because my body was so use to burning calories everyday . Now I workout 2-3 a week with a healthy diet. Been in my best shape and feel strong

This is so true. When I was a junior in high school (not to long ago right before Covid first hit) I would do like 15 sets for chest and 12 sets shoulders and 9 sets for triceps on my push day twice a week and on top of that I was doing 4 hours of mma training (not weights, more like bag work, drills, and cardio) 5 times a week and on top of that I just went through a horrible breakup and I was very depressed and stressed so my life long insomnia got even worse and I was getting 2-3 hours of sleep a night . I was losing muscle and it felt as if I was gaining fat for no reason even with a very strict diet but even worse I was losing my mind to the point I thought I might be schizophrenic. After Covid hit I took a break from working out entirely against my will and started feeling normal again. To this day I feel chronic stomach pain and headaches I still believe were initially caused by that.

As much as I love working out it has taken an impact on me negatively because of the amount of training I'm doing. I have a workout plan, and usually do two upper and two lower body days, yet part of me insists on wanting to add more workouts, sets, and even days to I guess deviate. I didn't think I was overtraining, but I was, and I ignored it all too well because I thought "the more the better... or merrier". This was especially exemplified when I drank too much water on TOP of it. Thankfully no injuries had happened, just my mental state crashing and overall disorientation, but it was a scary experience. Here I am now writing this and for the past week I have been filled with self-doubt and negativity, yet find myself practicing discipline and trying to workout more and more, thinking that I was taking advantage and "squeezing the juice" out of the gym so to speak. But ironically, it's likely the amount should be reduced, which I'm going to try and do.

Now I realised that I was doing excessive exercise doing 200-300 push up every day.. spend 3-4hour doing excessive in the morning.and now I suffering from dizziness everytime I walk ...it is irritating and I can't even do my normal exercise ...I have to take medicine and doctor said it took may be two or three months to recover..

I’m blaming it on the TEACHER. She has quit teaching some of her classes, and has suddenly begun showing us exercises that really put too much pressure on the knee. before she cared about what we did and how we moved. Now all of a sudden it’s balls to the wall. I think she’s burned out.

This is super interesting. In other words, no matter how much we want results to happen, we are actually hurting them by trying to do more than we should. Thank you for this video.
