I rented to my sibling. I was Horrible. He refused to pay rent. Even through I explained the rent was taxes, insurance, maintenance and improvements. I sold the property before I was ruined financially. Never rent to friends or families keep it as a business. My best tenants were the individuals who the property management company located.

Family will always expect you to be lenient & empathetic with them when they most of the times willfully come up short on the rent knowing full well other family members will get on you for getting on them for rent because you all are family, but I would tell them the mortgage company wants their money and the city wants it’s taxes & the insurance company wants their money as does the utility companies & they all don’t give a damn about family relationship because that ain’t paying them & family will not play with another landlord so why play with me🤨.

I was weeks ago thinking I would when I real-estate with section 8 or the other section 8 equivalents like in Cleveland. My sister been on vouchers for most of my life & my aunt. So I was thinking taking over their voucher contract when the opportunity presents or when im able to.

Section 8 and PHA are different ,, depending on the section 8 - it’s for elderly , with a disability - able to expect at any movement
