Trevor, not punching on live animals relates to you not being able to control in your mind the shot sequence. I’ve compound bow hunted for at least 30 years and have trigger slapped killed a lot of animals. WITHOUT CONTROL! Finally, I got my shot sequence under control and have not made an uncontrolled kill shot in years. It’s in your brain. You probably do uncontrolled shots a lot more than you think. One thing I did was to make sure I was in excellent archery bow pulling shape. No fighting the draw. Smooth easy draw. I shot at like ten feet from a bag. Not worrying about shot placement. But the feel and control of the release. Take the sight off. Close your eyes. Feel the shot. Feel the control. Do NOT fire if everything doesn’t feel right. Let down. You must learn you DO NOT have to or need to fire every arrow. Another thing to try is shooting at a 3-d target at like 15 yards. Learn to draw and place the pin on the exact spot. Then practice focusing on that spot only. Have your eyes and mind on that spot only. The pin will float to and around that spot automatically as you focus. The brain will learn to do this. It’s automatic. Do not force the bow or force the release. As the pin begins to settle into a smaller and smaller movement begin to pull thru the shot. What ever release you have MUST be set up properly so you don’t need to make it fire with finger or thumb movement. You want it to fire because you used your back muscles to pull thru the shot causing the release to move that last few thousands to fire. Takes a ton of shots to get it right. GOOD LUCK 👍👍

Set up your phine to video you when shooting or a friend filming your release hand. It’s really helpful to see if your not or are.
