Very short-sighted way of seeing things Mike: 1 - Red Wings are in a super tough division with talented teams missing out on the playoffs bc of how stacked the Atlantic is. 2 - Ken Holland was under major pressure by media and fans to "keep the playoff streak alive" as rebuilding was never granted to him by ownership/other parties. 3 - As an Oilers fan, he's had some great signings but also other questionable moves too. Go Oil!

Ken Holland's two quotes before he left for Edmonton still resonate with me, and I will not Root for him. "I think if you expect cups, you're in the wrong league" and "less can be more exciting"

You need to let that go. That was almost 10 years ago. He was trying to tell the wings fans their expectations were way too high for who they were at that point.

Hey since Kenny says if it takes Yzerman 10 years to win a cup in Detroit as general manager, it’s a failure. Then I guess Jim Devellano who became the Red Wings general manager in 1983 and handed the GM position over to Ken Holland after they won the 1997 Stanley Cup is a failure because it took him 13 years to rebuild Detroit into a Stanley Cup winner. And if you look at Joe Sakic, he must be a failure too because it took him as General manager of the avalanche nine years to win a Stanley Cup yeah they must be failures because it just took too long. Hockey rebuilds take about 10 years to win a cup.

97.1 is a bunch of morons who don’t know hockey at least oh this show. Yzerman himself said it’s going to take time and he didn’t put a timetable on it. Yet the all knowing 97.1 who talks hockey once or twice a month seems to know more than the experts.

I rarely agree with Mike but I am absolutely on board. I do not want Holland to win a cup and it does just remind me how long this supposed rebuild is taking.

I do not care in the slightest if Holland’s prediction comes true, because it was his incompetence that put them there. Yzerman basically confirmed that prediction saying that it’s gonna take some time, but some people don’t understand hockey development and complain when the team isn’t competing for cups when they get no lottery luck and it takes most players 4 years to develop properly. Holland walked into a position with the game’s best player and another top 5 player in the league, and has done more to hurt them than help them. Despite his best efforts and abysmal contracts, they’re getting where they are. “A barnacle on the ship” is a perfect way of putting it, so I’m with Kenny, I have no feelings about the man, but want the team to win

Neither. I am rooting for Canada (collectively as a country) to win it's first Stanley Cup in 30 years. Last team from Canada to win was Montreal in 1993. They're overdue and I'd like to see them have the cup in Canada for a year. As far as Ken Holland goes, I couldn't care less.

What makes a GM good in the salary cap era is the ability to draft. Holland sucks at drafting, always has, always will. The Oilers need to win this year, otherwise the window will close. Holland will get fired after next season.

nope, no way im rooting for him. i hope he looses every playoff series forever. he lucked into conner mcdavid. anyone could win with with him playing for you
