As a hockey Fan from Mannheim.. I clearly remember Seider's rookie Season in Mannnheim and during that season.. visiting a road game in Schwenningen as a Fan. and all of a sudden i'm on my way to get another beer and all of a sudden Yzerman stands a couple of feet away from me.. At that time still in service of Tampa (Possibly trying to scout potential late 1st round draft picks) ... But I remember staying up during the night to watch the draft from germany... and when Yzerman walked up the stairs I remembered seeing him scout Seider in Person... And when he actually called his name... my mind was blown! :D

Anything before that is too early. Not everyone is Matthews, McDavid, Crosby, etc. A guy like Valeri Nichushkin didn't actually blossom until 25-27 with Colorado, because Dallas was just an awful environment for him, clearly. You can't predict how good a player is by their draft order. There is too many busts in the top 10 picks, and we already know several round 2-6 players have actually become super stars. People need to learn to judge a rookie in year 4 or 5, not year 1-3 or even prior to that. Even if a rookie is terrible in X years for one team, they could completely change with another team. Valeri Nichushkin is a good example of this. Dallas was just not the team for him - it wasted so many years for him.

@jeremykraenzlein5975 2 жыл бұрын
@@dwaynethewokjohnson7773 There are a lot of things that we all wish had gone differently. As a Detroit fan who still reflexively roots against Colorado, I wish that this year's Western Conference Finals could have had a different result. One thing to keep in mind is that when discussing prospects with his scouting staff in 2017, 2018, and early 2019, Holland had no idea that he would be leaving soon. Even when Yzerman was hired in April 2019, the original plan was for Holland to stay on as assistant GM. That was all announced and ready to go, and Yzerman and Holland worked together on the Red Wings off-season for a month. Then we were all surprised when Holland abruptly announced "Change of plans: I'm going to Edmonton". He subsequently said that he was surprised himself how quickly he missed being the top guy making the final decisions. Also, while Holland has gotten a lot of criticism for some of his calls in recent years, he had a lot of success before that. He became GM in 1997 as Detroit had just become the champion, but then abruptly lost another awesome defenseman. Vladimir Konstantinov was still under contract for one more year, but his career was suddenly ended by a tragic limo accident. Holland immediately had the job of building the next year's team to fill in the gap of the missing all-star defenseman, and he did well enough as shown by the team's repeat the next year. He would later also build the championship teams of 2002 and 2008.

Same logic goes to Caul Caufield dropping to #15, people will always find reasons to doubt. Players are just drafted too young in the NHL, since barely 1 or 2 play their first year, they should seriously delay the draft year until players are 19 year old instead of 18.

1. Hughes. MTL taking Slafkovsky and missing out on Johnny Hockey isn't making me scream 100 pts. He'll still put 80 pts on a lackluster Devils team, and he'll need the right supporting cast. 2. Kakko has been ruined by David Quinn and injuries and being overshadowed by Panarin, Kreids, and Zibanejad. If he plays 82 games this year, I think he'll put up 50 pts comfortably. 3. Dach. Being with Suzuki, Slafkovsky, Caufield, and Anderson who he can pass the puck to, he'll have a breakout season. 4. Byram. He has a cup. Nothing else to mention 5. Turcotte. Too hard to judge based on 8 games. In a redraft, I'd take Seider in the top 3 minimum.

If he play like he does in playoffs, Seider & Byram will be the top two players from 2019 draft. But, actually, I wanted Avs to go Seider at 4. Should be a fun future. I think it's funny how people point out how people laughed about that pick way to early, but are now also way too early to praise the pick. Seider had an amazing rookie season, that's all so far. There are many players from this draft who do have the potential to break out and have a much better career than Seider. Seider would not be the first guy coming over from Europe with a pretty impressive rookie season and then developing much slower than other guys. Already having played against grown men in Europe simply makes it easier to adjust to the higher level of physicality compared to guys who played junior or college hockey before.

He carried his defensive partner all season long while producing top tier. The kid plays way ahead of his age for a young defensemen and you can see it if you watch him night in and night out. Very excited to see where his career ends up as he has a great attitude and work ethic.

@@dr1vebyninja101 he played ahead of his age, because he was already used to playing against grown men. That's the whole point. It is very possible that he's just ahead in his development than his competition, but also much closer to his ceiling

not sure I agree with best in the class, yes Hughes first two seasons werent the best, but he also has over 100 pts, over 160 gp, and last season was on a 43 goal 94 point pace. Yet, its also premature to assume this point production will remain, remember, nail yakupov had a 53 point pace his rookie season before never reaching that again. So, I think that claim is very premature

Hi Rob, Im a big fan. I would appreciate hearing your opinion. In my fantasy league, I have to keep 6 of my players this season. We are turning our league into a dynasty league. I have 4 forwards locked up, Matthews, Eichel, Stuzle, J. Hughes. I then have Makar and was planning to keep Seider. After the season he is having, I'm considering keeping Josh Morrissey over Seider. I know the expectations for Seiders future, but do you see Morrissey keeping this pace up and being the better pick for the next few seasons? Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks

It’s apparent that people in thes comments don’t watch jack Hughes play. He was in a line with two guys who are currently 3rd line talent (Mercer and sharangovitch) both have potential but aren’t there yet. He also was on one of the worst power plays and He still was well over ppg and if he played all 82 games would have dropped a minimum of 40 goals and 94 points as a 20 year old.. Zegras and mo are impressive and will probably be stars but jack is 100% the best player currently and moving forward.

Why would you dump on Michael Bunting and signal him out like that? Like what kind of bullshit is that? Just list his name like everyone else you listed. There was no reason to signal him out like he didn't matter. He has 2x as many votes as Raymond and he actually led in points and was #2 in both goals and assists. That's so unprofessional. And before people say it's because he played with Marner and Matthews, he was getting points on every line he played on, and as we saw with Nick Ritchie, playing with Matthews and Marner is no guarantee you will be a 60-point player. Regardless of age, Bunting qualified and he deserves respect for his accomplishment. And yes, he does even if you hate the Leafs too, which just makes these content creators chilish. He was 3rd in Calder voting - say his fucking name.

How about we stop putting so much into mock drafts? Hockey writers are NOT the same as scouts, GMs, Coaches, etc. Detroit has a strong history in Europe and great scouting there. That's why Mo worked in Detroit.
@theDaveStanzito
@theDaveStanzito 2 жыл бұрын
I should also state he had people at every step who fostered his development path. His move to the SHL was especially smart as Detroit has like half a dozen high level prospects playing there. He had a chance to meet these guys and play with/against them. In a few years they will dominate the roster. Just wait and see.
