Abba Father, I repent if I act upon my desires and need your help to better myself. In agreement with this whole message and loosening the promises of philippians 3:18-21, 2 corinthians 6:14-18, matthew 6:24, 1 john 3:10, 2 thessalonians 1:7-9 and this message for myself, my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances the body of Christ and my opponents I bind to hell one to act upon shameful, earthly desires that leads to destruction upon no return in my life, while binding to hell beibg unequally yoked with and have any common share with any evildoer serving satan that acts upon shameful, earthly desires, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

Amazing how John Piper unpacked the message of this passage, oh my it really made a lot of sense and shed a lot of light about how this passage relates with my personal life. Praise God for such men because is his Holy Spirit imparting them wisdom and grace otherwise they would be fool and ignorant of the truth as the rest of mankind.

I can't help but be reminded of a certain group of people that may be found clad in rainbows during the month of June while celebrating a certain "appetite" that they have allowed to take the place of God. It's no wonder that it's socially unacceptable to criticize them or to call out their sin for what it is; you're blaspheming their god when you do. And those parades they hold and the flags they wave are not for no reason; they are actually a form of worship to their god.

When the irony of Rainbows is based on Genesis 9:13 it is proof that God keeps His word. Using the rainbow for a different meaning than its intended purpose is also blasphemous.

This is really convicting, because I struggle with sexual sin. I don’t want this to become my god and it is not my god. I’ve struggled with this since I was 8 when I was molested by a woman

hmm, food for thought (pardon the pun) so I take it this means that those who get involved in bad practices are in deep trouble...IF their consciences are NOT bothered? I have been far from perfect, so many times, but the 'troubling thoughts' were never far away. Its only in more recent times I have realised the utter futility of doing things my own way. Its not about day to day living, but more about being involved (as I was) in unmarried relationships and such like.

How can we get a healthy balance between being overly uptight about these things on the one hand and being completely thoughtless on the other hand? Towards the end of Ecclesiastes it says that we can and should enjoy our life and the good gifts of the Lord. I know this doesn't necessarily contradict the message of the video, but our intuitive reaction can be this uptightness I mentioned, which is surely not the way a Christian should live

couldnt agree more. Although I dont think he is going on about the things in life we enjoy...as such. Its more about churches and believers being waylaid onto things that are not God honouring....in that the Gospel is distorted to suit whatever lifestyle they are promoting. Things like food and sex and so on are great things, but taken to excess or not used and respected properly then things get out of control. As for the uptight thing? we cant change people, and its pointless 'tutting' over behaviours, especially with the unbeliever. However, its good to help brothers and sisters in Christ, to keep check of whatever fad they might/or are involved in.

Over complicating a pretty straightforward passage. IMO

Well what you call over complicating, others call expounding. I for one am grateful that John Piper and the saints of old have spent their lives mining for gold within God’s word to help us all grow in understanding of His nature and character.
