I like your points raised, all good. I used to throw my bag, full of kit, in the back of the car, then find that I only 'needed' 2 of the lenses, at most! Trimmed the gear down to what I think I'll use, so my backpack is lighter, but my carry is only a sling bag! Looking at photos from a couple of years ago against today, yes, I think I'm improving... It has only taken 50 years to give photography some thought, I must be a slow learner! Enjoyed the video, thanks, Daniel.

Youre welcome, glad you like it and found it helpful. Cutting gear is a big one, why do we think more gear = better photos? Seems weird looking back, he he.

This was a great post. Loved it. I learned a lot from you and Randolph. So many of the points really hit me. 1.) I've FINALLY slowed down buying new gear. I'm down to two cameras: GRiiiX for the pocket, X-T5 as a primary. 2.) The looking back and my old shots? Ouch. Accurate. 3.) Over-edits? I basically push the auto exposure button, then rethink that, then poke the exposure by hand. That's mostly it. 4.) Not quite yet style-developed, but earning more compliments so maybe I'm on the path. Great stuff!

I agree with the gear thing, I don't think I ever really carried a lot of gear... could never afford it :) You definitely stop worrying about pixel peeping and look at an image as a whole, does it tell the story you want to tell and don't worry about the quality of the Bokeh (tbh, if you biggest concern is the quality of the Bokeh, your image probably is bad) But I definitely use less and less gear now, 90% of the time, it is either a 23mm or 56mm on an X-T3 as never needed more MP or I just use the X100 VI XF10-24 for video The other photographer that I work with (and share gear) uses an X-T5 (X-T-3 and X-E3 as backups) and in the pool of lenses 18mm, 27mm, 35mm, 60, 18-55, 18-135, 100-400, Tamron 18-300 and probably more... and most of these lenses live in the safe. Really need to sell some gear, just never get around to it, We did sell an X-Pro 2, and X-T10, 16-80 F/4 and 35 F/2.
