The Right doesn't get to assume all asylum request are invalid before they reach the border to make those claims, just because the Right wing rhetoric claims they are. That is why we have laws and a process.

Illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border plummeted after the Trump administration required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for court hearings in the U.S., according to a report. When the policy took effect in the Border Patrol's Yuma sector in May, arrests hit 14,000. By October, they had fallen 94 percent, or around 800, and have stayed there since, making Yuma the second slowest of the agency’s nine sectors on the U.S.-Mexico border, according to statistics cited by The Associated Press. There have been several reasons for the recent drop. Anthony Porvaznik, chief of the Border Patrol's Yuma sector, said the so-called Migration Protection Protocols have been a huge deterrent, based on agents' interviews with people arrested.

Senator Hawley did well except he should have listened closer to the answer on Title 42. What the man was claiming is Title 42 increases immigration crossing, their plan to decrease crossings is to bring everyone into the USA that wants to be here, then illegal border crossings go way down. He is saying crossings are up because the people we send home immediately come back.

It takes an average of 7 years for their case to be heard; DHS needs to do considerably better than that. They have no workable plan except wasting billions of dollars achieving nothing.
