As a fictional example, if I told a British exporter during the Cold War Era that I thought tea was mud and preferred coffee, it might give away my preference for American food staples or World War 2 rations. Although this might not mean I'm American, it could indicate I no longer participate in a culturally acceptable practice or tradition. As another example, I recently spoke with an Afghanistan War veteran whose emergency plan in the event of societal collapse was to move to some remote caves in New Hampshire or Vermont with his guns and hunt for his food. I get the hunting idea came from his US military survival training as per his own admission, but why live in a cave? Why live in some caves? The Americans refer to this psychological and behavioral change as "going native". As a victim of a US brainwashing programme, I can personally attest that even diet can change for people subjected to enhanced interrogation and conditioning. Depends if it's a leading question. A question can be framed with hidden assumptions and assertions that don't make sense and give a misleading impression if answered in a straightforward impression. Like "Are you still beating your wife?". You could say "no", but that implicates you as previously doing so. If someone asked a company "Do you have any employees at your company that actually are spies working on behalf of another company", if you just say "no" , you're likely ignorant or lying, because if they did, almost certainly you wouldn't know it(that's the point of a spy), and if you did know it, you'd fire them. An honest answer would be, "I don't know of any", but that sets you up as sounding incompetent. So you would expand, "I don't know, but we have systems in place that even if someone were a spy, they wouldn't be able to get the information they wanted" and then you might need to elaborate on what those systems are.
