Jim's wife Melissa here I love that bluebird stamp. I love this tutorial. I bought a blender marker to use with my watercolor pencils but I had no idea I could use it with markers! You are such an informative teacher. I love how you cover all of the possibilities too, like different papers . Thank you!!! You also gave me a major flashback. I had a plastic bluebird that hung on my crib as a baby that was a music box. The colors you used were spot on match to it! Thanks for the happy memory!

You are a fountain of knowledge! You know your stuff, you teach with humbleness and you share your excitement of what can be done. I am so thankful to have found you, over a decade now. I miss the caffiene Lindsey. But, to be honest.... I have to be very careful with my caffiene now, so I shouldn't be sad. I am not an artist. A stamp demonstrator for D.O.T.S taught me about the power of the blender brush. It was so much easier than the paper stump and mineral oil. I wasn't afraid when my munchkins were up and around. It was and still is the gold standard for Making a non artist look good. ☺🤗

I watched this, then tried ma mixture of glycerin + ox gall + water in a water brush. On drawing paper it is a fail. On watercolor paper it works wonders. You simply have to wait for the glycerin to evaporate. Thanks for the video and I am ordering from Blick the Tombow shown in your video. Your art kung-fu is the best.

I didn't know the water based blender could do so much! I used my old Dove blender so much I had to get more tips for it. I found some at a stamp show and bought them out! I used it mostly for applying chalk to an image. After years of use the glycerine finally soaked into the chalk and turned it too hard to use. I probably had the blender tip too wet because the Dove blender had a refill bottle that was used to put 5 drops of refill solution into the blender. When the refill ran out I used glycerine and water to refill it. I like the idea of pre-moistening the image before coloring with the marker. I should think that would make the markets last longer too.

I love using these for inktense. Especially in adult coloring books. I find on paper like Kerby Rosanes books (which is what coloring book I personally use inktense the most in) it will not bleed through and does not warp at all! And if I want to draw something in or fix a line that wasnt printed well i use a sakura micron pen. It has waterproof ink and will not smear. And it the same pen Kerby uses to draw the line drawings with, so it matches and looks like part of the original!

I quite like the Derwent Blending-Burnishing pencils that come in packs together, you get 2 of each of the types. The Blender is just “an empty pencil” made without pigment so it will blend pigmented pencil easily - it’s very soft thus oil-heavy. The Burnisher is its wax-heavy, harder sibling which is good for resists but also for outlining if you want to make sure you stay inside the lines. I have used it when doing like a complicated colouring stamped image that I want to keep a clean white border on and then die cut. I “colour in” outside the border with the Burnisher like we used to do around maps at school in blue - like just a 1/4 cm (a bit under 1/8”), very carefully on the “stamp edge” and rough on the other edge as it doesn’t matter and then I know my markers or inks I’m blending etc etc will be resisted by that area. You can also use it like Mrs McGuire et al. frequently use clear embossing powder for - those resists where you stamp in black, emboss in clear powder, ink it/etc then iron off the embossing to leave a crisp image: just stamp it and use the Burnisher over the line and no ink/etc can stick there.

I jusr loved this “how to use your products” tombows, [zigs, jane Davenport brush pens, ( I’m guessing )] and pastel, chalks, eyeshadows, and watercolor pencils. I bought a number of (kits) & products at Christmas Sales, that I thought my granddaughters would enjoy experimenting with, but for whatever reason they are fixated on black & white (grey shades). Its like they are afraid of color? Not sure what that is about. One Item I purchased was the Jane D pallette. Glad to know I can use them. Where do you buy the pon-pon applicators ? What are they called ? I hope you will do a part 2, with your remaining birds on other products you may think of. Like colored ink pad ink, or spray bottle inks, ?? Im sure there are more products you can blend with glycerin blending pens. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed so much.

Thank you for great ideas. I HAVE ANOTHER FOR YOU that I got from another KZbinr. You can use a water based colorless blender with Viviva ot Peerless color sheets. You could use that combination in places where you couldn't use a waterbrush away from your house. For example, waiting for a doctor's appointment. Koi calls their colorless blender "Coloring Brush Pen". They came two to a pack and are only 5.5" (135mm) long. They would fit in a small zip lock bag with a Viviva set. The combination would easily fit in a pocketbook.

Hey Lindsey! Thank you for all the tips!! I have several Tombow blending pens...and now I have so many different ways to use them! Btw...I have the same set of chalks with the tiny tiny pom poms, can you really get more of them? I wasn’t aware you could! Guessing Amason will probably be the place to check! Let me know if I’m wrong about that! And those bluebirds are so adorable!
