Excellent job! I used to repair and make harnesses for bikes and even cars, it is the point where most folk give up!! Phil

Thanks Phil. I too learned it as an apprentice and have done a few over the years. I particularly remember the terrifying loom taping machine. Best wishes, Dean.

Very professional job Dean plus the ability to disconnect items as required due to the connectors. Getting close now!

Cheers Bones. Making it as a 'component' was always the ticket. Best wishes, Dean.

Very nicely done, Dean. I've done a fair bit of wiring and soldering in my time (mainly medical electronics). Really looking forward to seeing the bike out and about. Cheers, Peter.

Fantastic job. I stirred the runbaken gauges, they were a Manchester company I believe, they made a glass oil coil that look cool.

Yes, they were a fine company way back when. Thanks for watching and commenting. Best wishes, Dean.

Beautiful, methodical, quality job, I'm proud of you. I like the ammeter voltmeter, don't remember seeing that before. I bought a Crypton version the other week, I can't bring it home just yet as the shop is still using it. All the best, Ade

Thanks Ade, it means a lot. The test set is ex REME, made by Runbaken. They were a reputable company back when we made things! Best wishes, Dean.

Brillant video. They really did teach you something back at Hot Ham Pie and Peas all those years ago. I still think it should have been called Crimping One Off.

Soldering... Not so much Ahhh Bisto more like Ahhh Rosin! Love the smell, that and castor 2 stroke oil. Interesting to see alternative wiring method, personally I prefer to wire on the bike, routing wiring through loose cable ties, just have to be careful not to route through non-removable parts.
@retromechanicalengineer
@retromechanicalengineer Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ian, whatever works best for you is the right way. As you say, not routing through parts. This is new solder on an old reel, it doesn't smell as good as the old 'multicore' rosin. I don't know what they've done to it. Best wishes, Dean.

@@retromechanicalengineer Solder no longer contains lead either. Make of that what you will. Us soldering upstairs in our rooms at age 12-13 was really just solvent abuse.
