This is def the style of tent to buy if you are wanting a RTT, after using a soft top style and researching all different types and this is by far the best. The ones that are hardshell and go up on all corners are not very stable in windy conditions. Great review
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
nice, good to know! i’ll probably be testing one in the coming months and have to report back 👍

Beautiful tent. I really love the hard shell type like this and obviously, the very easy set up and break down, but damn, that price. I need to think about it and also which bed rack to get for my Tacoma. Any suggestions from people? I have a stock tonneau cover, try fold, that would need to be accommodated and I do know brackets are made to do that, but I wonder how much strength you compromise in that process ..... thanks in advance.
@BRollOffroad2 жыл бұрын
maintaining the cover is a tall order, the ones that do it right don’t sacrifice strength though. i can’t remember who does it, maybe Leitner or UpTop has one now.

I just purchased the exact tent off of Alibaba. It could be a waste of money for I could be saving 50%. 45-50 shipping time will determine that lol.

That's a slick tent. Congrats, nice upgrade.

thanks, it'll be traded out for something else shortly haha. i've teamed up with Spirit Of 1876 to review all the things he sells so my roof will be in constant rotation while i get to try everything out. i'm real excited about it!

Great setup. It is a lot quicker setup than my smittybilt overlander.😀👍
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
yea it’s real nice although i don’t mind fold outs. out of the 3 RTT’s i’ve tested the 23Zero Breezeway has been my favorite. i’ll take a few more minutes setup time for increased space and ability to keep stuff in the tent when folded.. this James Baroud Nomad i just tested though, big miss, i actually felt bad editing the review today haha. i think if you’re worried about time, worried about height of vehicle and you’re on the shorter side these clamshells are a great option.

Hello! I am writing you because you have me sold on this particular piece of gear but i cannot find one! There is a newer version for a lot more money that I do not like as well! Dang. This did not end up in your closet by accident? I would just love to buy it from you. If you have any great thoughts on this, please let me know. Love your playfulness! Julie

Great review. I reeeeally like this style of RTT, in fact it's the only type of RTT I would consider using. Having to toss a sleeping bag up there is a non-issue...I have to move my sleeping bag AND my cot to and from my ground tent anyway. Boy it ain't cheap though is it. I could've used that sound deadening feature last week...had to camp in an actual campground and was awakened by a 6am domestic disturbance a few sites down the way. Fella threw every piece of gear he had into the back of his flatbed as hard as he could before roaring his diesel out of camp. Made it as far as the campground entrance before he eventually came crawling back. More drama ensued but I'd given up on sleep at that point.
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
thanks and yea doesn't bother me one bit, everything has pros and cons but the speed makes up for having to toss things in there. dang if only it was that good, that's crazy though. i've only run into something like that one time and back then i was in my car, even rolling up the windows didn't help anything. the worst i've had was a hunter in a diesel pulling into my campsite at 5am, idling for 10mins, getting out and shooting a deer 50yds away then taking off. this was a TINY site off of Goose Creek clearly meant only for the 2 cars we had there.

All the RTT are shown in arid environments, but how do they perform in rain? This one looks like the aluminum tray would hold water..
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
since i camp year round i plan on taking a bunch of tents out this winter and filming some serious tests. my 2nd trip out with this one we did have some heavy rain for about 20mins and then steady rain all night, no problems. the top has an eave over the fabric and then down the side so all good there and the bottom half has a molded lip/wall where the fabric meets so there won’t be any pooling. water runs down the fabric and to the outside of the lip then off the bottom shell.

I am deciding between this and the Roofnest Falcon. I know they are made in the same factories, but what are the major differences?
@BRollOffroad3 жыл бұрын
the main physical one is the rubber seal between top and bottom sections. Roofnest has a single pipe, like a O if you cut into it while ABFE has dual stacked rubber like an 8, so twice as thick. other than the vents it’s pretty minor differences (and RN may have added them by now) but the main one would be customer service.

Great video. For the crossbar, do you know if the foot (side attachment on the RTT) will fit Thule aeroblade or evo-wing bars?
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
This is something we’re working on getting fixed.. Yes the feet will attach but currently the feet only come with the bars so kind of no point as of now. If you already have those Thule bars I suppose you could sell them and get this whole bar/feet kit from Area BFE which are $299. I’ll try to remember to update you once the feet are available by themselves. Thanks for watching!

just trying out different tents, Spirit was loaning them to me but now i work there haha.
@MarioLoco034 жыл бұрын
$3k?? wow.
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
haha not sure if you think that’s high or low since it’s right in the middle of a $1,200-$1,500 23ZERO/Tepui/CVT and a $4,500-$5,500 James Baroud/GFC.
@jankie554 жыл бұрын
For the price, I couldn't justify something like this over the 23zero's. The only thing I can see that makes it definitively better is saving 3 minutes on setup time, and having a lower profile. Out of the two tents, what is your favorite?
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
i like the Breezeway more, smaller package, more space when open, price.
@DrewTimelapse4 жыл бұрын
How tall are you? Back or side sleeper? How do ya fit?
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
6’ 1”, i’m a side sleeper but i haven’t been good to my body over the years. i do a lot of stretching, tossing and turning before i get there and i could do it comfortable in there. probably depends on what you’re used to also.
@82toinfinity4 жыл бұрын
If its made in the same factory as roofnest. Hard pass. Cvt all the way. They have aluminum ones too.
@BRollOffroad4 жыл бұрын
same factory doesn’t necessarily mean same product.. but also bad news, CVT comes from the same factory as well.
