Huge benefit of a travel towel is the dry time. Yes it does the job well but a traditional towel will often take a day or two to dry in optimal conditions where the travel towel and dry in an hour or so

The pop up light that you don't recommend, I love using. The ones I got were free or a dollar from HF. I use them as perimeter beacons for when I arrive late at a campsite and they guide me in when backing up a camper or the RV. I put them by obstacles and trees.

I've been camping for decades and I have to admit I have never required hot water for anything other than food prep. Now that I'm stomping all over middle-age I definitely see the attraction of having hot water available, but I still opt for a lighter packing list due to the rugged locations I seek. It's neat to see all of the new options that have arisen over the years that make camping more attainable for those who want to take the comforts with them, however.

Most of my "camping" was out of a rucksack for the better part of my 63 years. Now-a-days it is no longer the case and a 7x16 enclosed "cave on wheels" is my current mode. Funny how a heart condition and other ailments causes one to improvise, adapt and overcome the fact that God has a sense of humor. I too am impressed with the advances in creature comfort items available at the click of a mouse.

My Reliance jug is awesome except the air cap where the plastic breaks. A great fix so it lasts forever as follows: Get a small stainless screw, lock nut and small electrical eyelet. Drill a small hole in the air cap center and install screw and eyelet with eyelet on the outside of cap. Then install any small rope or whatever in the eyelet by swaging. tie other end of string rope or ? to the handle and it will never break or lose the cap.

For the hot shower, a standard showerhead/handheld diverter valve with a short hose could let you recycle the water until it heats enough. I’ve love large thin towels ever since my European backpack extravaganza. They wrap like a robe, work at a beach, dry fast, & pack down. I find them nicer than dense fluffy towels that take tending.

Interesting video I’m glad it worked for you but almost everthing bought from Amazon has broken and failed. Maybe it’s because I used to be in the military and I expect everything to be built like a tank. I don’t like flimsy little things that break super easy it’s just a pain in the ass so I stopped find these products I now just save up my pennies it takes me longer to get it but eventually I get a quality item that’s gonna last for decades and that’s what matters to me in the long run it’s actually cheaper it’s smarter to buy quality over quantity. Who’d a thought my home economics teacher would be probably proud of me today LOL.

Water, shelter, food. The one must have is a water filter for making sure the water you drink is safe. I wouldn't trust any campground water. Plus, local water bio changes as you move from camp to camp. It even changes from watershed to different wstershed. So filter your water.

Great presentation of useful products. Almost 85 to 90% of the gear I have in my van came from Amazon, the other kits coming from ebay, Lowe's, Goodwill and garage sales. Amazing what people donate to Goodwill. I have a '19 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van that I will be living in as I travel throughout the lower 48, Canada and Alaska, something I've wanted to do since I retired from the Air Force. Now that I'm 74 and retired again it's time to hit the road. Zach Fowler won season one of Alone with a survival shovel...whatever he paid for the shovel gave him a return of $500grand. I have one in my van and I hardly ever use my ax. I made a primitive shelter using just the shovel and a Gerber Strongarm fixed blade. It's a valuable recovery and survival tool. It's rather weighty but its value outweighs the cons.

So, I use Butane, not Propane. I will say, one of them tall butane canisters wit the threads on them, using the mini-burner I have for them, I have been able to get all of can food meals cooked on it. I lasts longer than the narrow canisters in my Coleman camp stove (one burner). I use my camp stove and my mini-burner at home to cook anything that goes in my camp pot (1L). I have been using the one tall mini-burner canister for over a month. But I do some of the time use the camp stove, so if I only used the mini-burner it would probably last about 3/4 month. I don't eat like a pig with 3 or more huge meals and don't always cook every meal every day. Either way, for me, it is plenty to have one tall canister with my mini-burner. I figure if I had 3 meals every day that I cook in my 1L camp pot, I would only need 2 or 3 of the taller canisters of butane for my mini-burner for a whole month, possibly longer.

My online shopping is always Amazon. It works out best for me at my location. The stores here, even the big name companies (Walmart, etc) don't really get much good products and charge too much for the junk products they sell. There are some good product in our stores, but not alot. I am very serious about my money being spent on good stuff. It's not even worth spending a few dollars on something that's trash. So I end up spending my money on things online, not in-store. I started online shopping I think in 2019. I've got quite a number of good belongings through Amazon in the past couple of years. Before that I never did online shopping.

That's why my bag can fit 3 or 4 people (straight body) beside each other. It's not too much though, as I like to fold it in half for extra cushioning under me or as extra covering over me for more warmth.

Just on a side note for the guys who say they only have a single cab truck or two door wrangler and might not have the room for all this go watch FTA adventures channel if you want to see how compact you can actually go. The dude travels across the country and off roads on a motorcycle basically over landing on the extreme. Scooter tramp Scotty does the same thing on a Harley Panhead Billy has lived off a motorcycle since the 70s and the one he does that on doesn’t even have rear suspension. If you have a two wheel drive truck that sits off the ground a little you can do this stuff. You might not be able to go so many places but it can be done
