sometimes I feel that some of them do use monastery life to escape their duties back home due to poverty and struggle and a very few actually look for enlightenment. Siddharth Gautam certainly wasn't one among them. He left all this lavish lifestyle and extravagance of a Prince only to become a Buddha...so his intentions were very clear ...something the royal astrologers too predicted about him ...after his birth ....🙏❤🙏

Yes I did see that aswell. It's interesting when we talk about the Buddha. If you take away the religion and beliefs about what he did once he left his lavish lifestyle then you have a person who panicked about the thought of being trapped in life as a father and whatever duties he'd have when he grew up. I think that's a more relatable and probably truthfull story.

Thank you for this video! Very interesting. I have been thinking (many times) in the past I wanted to become a nun. Never did. But tried to implement spiritual practice in daily life. I am mostly sticking with yoga practice and your distortion practice. This is helping me a lot! Thank you

Can you talk some about the topic Dissociation? I believe I practised Self-enquiry for a very long time, by turning away from thoughts, emotions and the world. "just resting in the self" and trying to stay there permanetly. Eventually after a few years of doing this, I became a unfunctional mess that could no longer work, relate to other people, relationships and everything lost "its made up Mind meaning". I basically lobotimized myself, "No mind=no suffering" "No thoughts=no problems"...I see that this is a very popular trend and new dissociation teachers pop up daily in my recommendations, Believing they are actually teaching Enlightenment of some sorts. Meditation was not about getting more present with whatever what is, it was more a turning away FROM whatever was arising. Right now I am trying to come back to life and staying with all the mess and DAMN it hurts. Leaving that blissful, peaceful state of nothingness, no responsibilities, no constant anxiety, no musts...

I feel you Francis, You're not the first person who shares a story like this with me. I think you'd enjoy the video I just relased where I talk about this and I agree totally with you that trying to convince yourself that you don't exist rather than fully engaging with your senses and seeing the pressure or distortion as I call it which creates your sense of self. When you do the second option the self falls away rather than is forced away and still having the core problem being there. I will def. make a video about this in the future. I just need to figure out how to aproach it since it's a delicate subject. Thank you for sharing your story and best of luck with your practice.

Would love to! Also autocorrect apparently thinks I’m an owl. “Hoot” was supposed to be “happy” lol.

I feel fortunate to have been able to do this while I was young and had few responsibilities. But it doesn't require you to leave everything to take a year and devote to yourself. The difficulty is managing one's economy and relationships at the same time. Happy to have you here Nadyia and see you on Monday :)

Life has these things, 1. Survival, Life is only on survival mode because of body 2. Coping mechanisms, because life is default boring, it includes war, religion, ritual, traditions, sex, entertainment, etc... Because 99% humans don’t know what they really came from, Life is brutal, There’s no peace, love, and light. They have their own opposite, war, hate, and dark, both are the same, 2 side of the same coin

As long as you're dealing with the mind, that's mostly true. But when you simply experience reality through your senses without the filter of the self, all that disappears, and it's just things happening. Happy to have you here!
