The standing areas are for the "Klack". It's the more hardcore fans who usually wave flags, play drums and sing songs to cheer their team on. The arenas have one for the home team and one for the away team.

HV71's arena does have some sun shining in to the arena. And since the seats are the way they are it gives an amazing atmosphere in the arena with the loud and passionate fans they have. Especially during the playoffs.

Regarding Luleås arena, aswell as many other arenas i Sweden. There are special sections for away fans aswell as for the hometeam. Compared to the States and Canada, we dont mix fans together, despite that there are fans mixed but in Sweden usually we try to put all awayfans in one place. Also the people who stand are usually what we call a klack, which is basically the fans that sing and compare to North America the fan environment is way better in Europe then in the states. Not just in Ishockey, but in all sport cus we try to sing and cheer for the entire game. Myself, aswell as Björn, happen to be from Malmö and support the Malmö Redhawks, however since im half Canadian i follow the NHL more.

COOP Arena in Luleå used to be called (Delfinen) "The Dolphin" and COOP is a supermarket here in Sweden like walmart but smaller. And you don't say CO - OP. You just say COOP. Example the name Cooper but you remove letter e and r. I've been to this arena alot of times and I was expecting this arena to be ranked very low like in the 10th spot. Great video btw! Keep up the good work!

Luleå fan here, I've been inside the Coop Norrbotten Arena a lot of times, the area in the far end of the picture is the standing area, the "numbers" are actually letters that say "Vi står upp för Luleå" = We stand for Luleå. There is also a Sauna lounge in the arena with a window facing the ice

As a Djurgården fan I can say that Hovet is considered one of the most frightening arenas for away teams when packed, the angle of the seats and the whole crowd standing up makes it seem like an extra player almost. The fanbase of Djurgården is also famous for being really loud and active

There are a couple of reason why there is space between the rink and the spectators. One is that the arenas are used for other events. Scandinavium hosts horseshows, concerts and other sports such as handball ( look it up ) and other things. As for Scandinavium, its not a flat arena, the Photo distorts the building and angles. You have an excellent view of the ice and I should know having had season-tickets 05-11 ( and making a glorious return this season )

In regards for the "coop" norrbotten arena in Luleå, the far end you speak of, is "hemmastå" (in the old version of the arena called "apberget" which translate to Monkeymountain) and it's where the hardcore fans stand, chanting and waving flags and having an good ol' time, every arena has one, i think. Also the most closest floor space, is a handicaped space, the 6 black things you see is heating elemenst for those who sits in a wheel chair, so they don't get cold. Also "coop" arena, also known to those who play hockey in the youth division of Luleå Hockey, calls the most left for "B-hallen" which translate straigt to "B-hall", but more correctly to like "B-arena/rink" The middle one is "COOP" arena, that's called A-Hallen - A-arena/rink and most right C-hallen - C-arena/rink, and lastly what doesn't show on the picture, depending on the date of the picture, but around 2011 the most right, they built a 4th, that they called D-hallen - D-arena/rink. The difference between the 4 rinks is that A-rink has the seating capacity of 6300 and is the home arena for the elite team, B-arena/rink has a seating capacity of about 100? At max I think. It is for practice and youth teams games. C-arena/rink is just a indoor hockey rink, as same as the D-arena/rink. Theses 2 are also used for icepractice and youth games Just some bad formulated info for ya! ;D

For some clarification. Just behind the glass outside of the rink is not places for viewers/fans. Usually there's some medics and maybe a few photographers that stand there. It's like a walkway for for coaches and staff etc. And also, all arenas have standing places. A good example is at 4:00 just beneath is standing places. And there's 2 different standing places. Usually 1 big and 1 small. The big one is for fans of the hometeam, and the smaller for fans of the away team. Most arenas also have Lodges and restaurant seats. I believe Björn might be a little biased aswell. All arenas look better when there are full of fans in there. Any questions? Hit me up!

Malmö Arena is a modern multiarena and opened in November 2008. It's a very NHL-like arena, and it takes the most people out of any arena which has a club playing. the only one slightly larger is the Ericsson Globe in stockholm but none of the stockholm teams (AIK Solna & Djurgårdens IF Hockey) plays there.

Many arenas in sweden are not made for hockey only, Scandinavium and Malmö arena are owned by the cities and the teams are renting the place. So sometimes in the playoffs they won't even play in these arenas. I guess that's not the case in North America :)

The Hv71 arena has a large window behind where the picture was taken. And it is a nice view with a bar there. And the away crowd has their "klack"(hardcore cheering entourage) to the right from where the picture was taken. The home "klack" has their area straight behind the jumbotron. it´s like a "V" there. Hv71 won the SHL 2016-2017 season. And by the way, nobody is allowed to get so close that they can bang on the rink glass.

The ABB arena inside pic is very old. When the team advanced to shl they had to build about 1000-2000 seats more and those where build in that end where there where almost no seats. There is (or was) a rule in sweden that the arenas for shl must have place for a minimum of 5000 visitors

As an HV71 fan, i'm happy Kinnarps Arena became the nr.1. Also the K.A was the first one to be built in what is called the "arena boom" in Sweden during the 00's where everybody was building arenas after seeing HV71's succsess with theirs. The glass also in K.A is where the office buildings are, and you only get a view outside from the Sektion O balcony section, and sunlight doesn't bother the viewers. About the middle circle being empty is because in the 15/16 season the SHL didn't have an official sponsor, and in 16/17 they got one so nowdays it says "Nordic Bet" there. When you look at Johanneshov (Hovet) it's an old arena with great acustics and the Stockholm teams plays there because they can't fill the Ericsson Globe (the biggest in Sweden, not Malmö) enough to make good profit. They have decided that Hovet will be demolished in 2020 and they will renovate the Ericsson Globe and they will be able to lower the ceiling from game to game. Also the arenas in Skellefteå, Luleå and Örebro are quite old aswell, but they have been renovated with more and better seats, new exteriors etc etc. The standing areas are for fans that are singing chants and you have one home section and one away section. It's from there all cheers are orchestrated, and it makes for an awesome tention in the arenas. In Europe we also have problems with hooligans (although ice hockey is relativley spared compared to football/soccer) and despite this, some arenas place the away fans right next to the home fans, which can cause troubles. Djurgården and AIK are basicley the only ones who are troublesome though. You have examples where they have thrown coins or food for example at other sections. When Djurgården and AIK play eachother there is riots in the standings more often than never also. They play in diffrent leagues nowdays though. I can give you some information on my impressions of the arena's i have visited. 1. Kinnarps Arena in Jönköping (HV71) As you guessed, the view is awesome wherever you are seated. The heads of the ones on the row in front of you only reach up to your knees. The only thing i don't like is that they have made fewer standing sections, so there aren't too many away fans anymore. 2. Löfbergs Arena in Karlstad (Färjestad) A very nice arena with good seats and good views. A bad thing here though is that they have theese rails on the entrances to the sections and they block the view if you get the wrong seat. 3. Behrn Arena in Örebro. It's a small arena, as you mentioned, and it's always crowded. It's always a pleasure to sit in the audience in Örebro. Bad thing here though is that the closer you are to the ice, the worse the vision get. You can't even be seated in the first two rows during games due to the poor view. 4. Gavlerinken Arena in Gävle (Brynäs) A very nice looking arena, very modern and very good seats. Some minuses with it though is that the crowd in Gävle was spoiled with Brynäs succsess in the 60's and 70's, so they don't go to the games unless it's playoff so it's usually only half full. Also there are too few entrances and exits on the diffrent sections, so you everybody is heading for the same exit in the intermissions and it gets anoying when you have to move aside all the time because of this. 5. Ericsson Globe in Stockholm Nice seats, but they have an ugly color (it will be changed in 2020 though). Also on the balcony sections the vision get worse. 6. Scandinavium in Gothenburg Old, ugly, uncomfortable seats and if you sit in the first 4 rows, you can't see anything Also Frölunda is trying to copy the NHL too much and their fans are so whimpy. "We don't hate, we love" it's like if you aren't even allowed to use curse words among them, like a childrens movie. If anybody have read all of this, thank you.

I am from Sweden and the ABB Karlskrona arena is bigger. They have changed it. Its much bigger but it is still 5000 that can come in. They new name is now NKT arena. Before and when the picture was taken it only got in 3000. The name of the team is KHK (KARLSKRONA HK). And the side to the left of the arena is like six seats higher up and now on the side where it wasent anything just a wall they have changed that so it is seats over the area where you can stand and around the whole arena. And to right its café or what to call it and more space ro stand on.

Djurgårdens IF play games in two arenas in the same area, Hovet (Main) witha about 6000 attendances and The Ericsson Globe Arena (Alternative). Hovet is from the 1950's and have the by far best acoustics of all arenas, the noise there especially during playoffs is among the best in Europe and possibly the world. But it will be demolished 2020-21 for a worldclass multi-rink training ground with a dedicated subway link between it and the Globe arena and also the Globe will get some renovation & upgrades like increased amount of seats (from 13800 ish to 15 000), new jumbotron and adjustable roof for closing off the highest section for a more intimate atmosphere (better for hockey) and use them for concerts and due to the roof get better acoustics and reduced echo because the Globen ceiling is high af. Like a cathedral. Globen will also get 2 rinks underground for games and practice. Improved transportation to and from it all, hotels, galleria, new metro station etc. Basically it will become a top notch arean town where everything is linked to one another. And all this will result in and great tourist and fan experience and both the men's and woman's team will share the grounds and have their practices and matches in the same buildings. Currently the Djurgårdens IF womens team have their own grounds but that will change and so improve the whole work of the orginazition, closer communication and development. Especially the womans team will gain the most from this whole project. They play in the WSHL btw.

The sun does not strike the ice in Kinnarps Arena, but it is still beautiful. And the picture of Scandinavium's interior does look wrong, because the seats are not that flat, it is pretty steep actually. (Side note: COOP is actually pronounced as you said first, and not as CO-OP ☺)

The scandinavium arena lower section is very flat and they are at a very low price bc of that. But the upper part (red part) is pretty steep and you have a good look over the hole arena. The only thing i dont like is the space between the rink and standings! Heja VF ❤️💚

You missed the capacity of Scandinavium in Gothenburg where "Frölunda" plays. 12044. There are seats on all places but there is a section we dont use them cause of the owner wont let us to take them away on game days. Its a greate arena. We have the largest flag i the SHL. The "goalie" flag. Its big as one of the sctions. Been following Frolunda with seasonpass for 13 years now and the 14:th year are coming.

The space between the rink and the seats are not for a standing crowd. your are not allowed to go there, i think its for like the press or something :) But all arenas and teams have a standing areas wich are made for the "klack". The "klack" are more hardcore fans who usually sings chants and play drums, waves flags etc. 12:57 no the glass is probably just for the look. its has nothing to do with the sunlight 10:15 no coop stands for coop! Coop is the second largest Supermarket in sweden and they are sponsoring Luleå Hockey Team. if annyone has any questions, i'll gladly answer them, i am from sweden so i might have a good answer ;)

9:47 in works just fine watching a hockey game at scandinavium. the picture doesent make it justice. The bad thing about scandinavium are that it´s a "multi" arena, hockey it ́s not the only thing they have there unfortunately. Why don´t you guys come over and try to see a game at every arena here in sweden? it would have been really fun see what you guys think.

Sorry... ;P (Men ja..... Naturligtvis kallas det Coop i folkmun, men egentligen inte fel å säga Co-op)
