Arendal 1723 S THX vs JBL HDI 3800 - Home Theater #53

In this video, I continue my comparison of the Arendal 1723 S THX tower speakers but this time against some JBL HDI 3800s.

As stated in the video, this one in person was a little difficult to distinguish any big differences. They are both great sounding and good looking speakers. For me the price would drive my final decision to go with the Arendal as I could go with their top-of-the-line model and still be under budget.

I’ve had the JBL’s for about two years, absolutely love them. Full bodied sound, clarity, detail, and presence.

No way the small arendal does a better job than the 3800, and Arendals is half the price

It was honestly really hard to distinguish which is why I was glad that I had the owner of the JBLs listening with me as well and he also couldn't tell much of a difference and thought the Arendals were a bit clearer and as for price, as I mention in the video you could go with the more expensive and even bigger Arendal 1723 series and still be under the JBLs.

As recorded, I would go for the JBL's, as everything was just more clear and defined, including the cymbals and bass impact and articulation. That said, I would have to hear them again with the volume increased a smidge on the Arendal's to make a final judgement on those two.

That's a good point because of the higher sensitivity (JBL) it does cause the volume to be higher which may cause a difference in how the sound is perceived and of course does affect the recordings.

@@hotdog9262 Yeah, after doing this series I kind of wish I would have done that as well with the comparisons. If I get a chance to do something similar will try to see if I can do that.

@@RandomDistractionsYT atleast important if someone is set up to do a subjective listening test as the louder speaker will usually be favoured as better
