It does work on some GM's also. You mentioned that it should have like a spring to hold it in place, just put a thick rubber band around it when you have it in place.

Funny... Because I was just thinking how I could make a rubber band work! I was thinking of a coil spring device that links with the release shaft. I guess with a rubber band you'd slid it on once claws are in place?
