She carried the entire history of the Black experience in her voice. From crying to yelling to whispering to shouts of joy, she could take and transport you back to the dark days of slavery and beyond. Her phrasing carried the guttural sounds of pain and suffering as each part of the song flowed through her throat and was delivered to her audience with cruel honesty and compassion. She grew in her commitment to her Creator, and the many interviews that she gave, always contained answers that could only come from a warrior for Christ and her convictions and faith made many an interviewer uncomfortable. Her journey was filled with great accolades and I’m sure inner conflicts, like all of us, but she kept the faith and persevered until Christ took her home. I play her music only when I’m alone.

i am so upset that they were not able to capture this song in its entitrety. its singlhandedly is a symposium in black praise and storytelling The beauty of this film is that you can see the building of these arrangments and how to properly recording a live gospel record. In this filmher genius is prominent. she is prise, professional and open. its a hard task, but she does this remaining grounded. Her posture and praise is live record sing 101. A true master. Wow.
