I would feel really really sad at her passing since I look up to her more than anybody else,but I don't feel one bit sad...coz she lived her life to the fullest,she's the Queen and the ultimate woman that conquered everything. Everybody dies,but not everybody lived a life quite like hers! Her body has left us,but the history of the Queen is simply forever!

The Sweethearts of Soul here were different members at times. The background singers in this clip I don't know. Often they were ARETHA'S sister Carolyn, Cousin Brenda, and Margaret Branch who passed shortly before Aretha did. Often in studio ARETHA'S sisters Erma & Carolyn did backgrounds. Both of Aretha's sisters passed before Aretha did. Of course The Sweet Inspirations often recorded & sometimes toured with Aretha. Members where Cissy Houston, Estelle Brown, Sylvia Shemwell, and Myrna Smith. The last 2 passed before Aretha did.

Actually Janis said Aretha was the best female singer of their time. She along with Streisand wished they could sing like Franklin.

The Queen seem to be a bit exhausted during this clip. If you know anything about the Queen you know she was going through a lot personally at this time and was juggling a career that went into the stratosphere with all the demands that it brought about. Nonetheless she worked it out in this clip. Does anyone know if this was late 68? If so she had just returned from her first tour overseas.

Aretha Franklin last 2 children were born in 1964 and 1970. I'm sure this is not 1964. Not sure if it's 1970 either?
@sashineb.21145 жыл бұрын
Looks like 1968 to me.
@markdrinkwater15085 жыл бұрын
Aretha was always exhausted at this time, even though she was a young woman, she drank heavily at this time and chain-smoked.., and was going through big marriage problems, one trauma after the other, death of King put a lot of pressure on her at this time, it wore her down but she always managed to stay just about strong enough. Here she seems intoxicated or high on narcotic. The Queens life was very very tough from the start, she was a troubled soul from the start, but she had a gift that the world needed her to share with us and very often Aretha sang from the soul of humanity itself. All we can do is thank God that we shared the world with this divine talent.

@@markdrinkwater1508 It's sad that some people have so much trouble to go through. After years of not having a hit at Columbia, she suddenly went into orbit in 1967 and the sudden demands, plus trouble with her husband, and being a mother to young boys must have been difficult for her. This performance seems a bit "off", like something is weighing her down. But living with Ted was not easy and she would soon divorce him.

She most likely was. This was the year she started drinking heavily and ended up falling off stage. She rebounded after the fall and divorced her husband.
