Probably wasn't intentional that it sounded as rude as it did, but Aretha just completely overlooked the amazing and poetic songwriting skills of Taylor, now more clear than ever after the two (!) albums she put out last year. Taylor's not famous for her singing, but for her lyricism. Aretha is a one-of-a-kind singer, but she always had men writing the songs for her.

Whitney was simply more talented than Aretha .I can't imagine Whitney ever dissing other artist works publicly.She had humility and dignity and was extremely supportive of other up and coming singers like Alicia Keys ,Mary j Blige ect.For Whitney,respect wasn't just a word in a song .She had true respect for other artists struggles , tried to help many succeed and is remembered for this generous part of her kind nature by many artist.

As an African American man, I can attest that Aretha sounds just like all my great aunts. They all have that old school, classy, but forward mentality. They command respect with the way they carry themselves. That can be intimidating to those who aren't accustomed to these kind of women. But I'm sure I speak for a lot of other black folks when I say, this is all we know, and is no surprise.

Nah, she just assumed stuff about an artist she doesn't know anything about. Reducing Taylor's whole career to 'beautiful gowns' is such a dismissive, gross and sexist comment. Look, I'm not a huge Taylor fan, I like some of her songs and nothing more, but the girl can sing, write and compose songs, play several instruments, work on the production in studios. Aretha has a right to say those things sure, but were allowed to say that it was impolite and mean of her.
@noncatholiccatholicrat6309
@noncatholiccatholicrat6309 Жыл бұрын
@@ykMMD with peace, love, and respect, please educate yourself on vocal technique and capabilities. Taylor is an objectively (yes there is an objective level to someone's singing capabilities; even though your enjoyment of their tone or delivery is subjective) mediocre. Also, being able to write pop songs that are popular doesn't equal writing good songs. It just means they are on a level of relatability and commercial appeal. She also wasn't impolite, she simply was being nice by not giving her opinion on her.

KK McGee "blunt" is a very negative word. Aretha was sharing her true opinion using the language that artists like her use. She was authentic but it can be difficult for some to hear the truth but it is better than the lies that are all over the media. These were really silly questions anyway and she was not impressed as she says what is an autotune; they don't reveal their real voices. It is totally different now; anyone can be made into a singer.

Aretha Franklin was the pioneer of all singers, she was a legend indeed, legend of all legends. After her, came artist like The Beatles, Elton john, Micheal jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Celine dion, Mariah Carey and so many more. The artist of 80s and 90s created a major impact in the music industry, sells records by millions. Aretha Franklin set the standard, and the other artist carried on the legacy and records. Coco ol i agree that Taylor is not that great and Nicki Minaj is not talented at all when it comes to singing but Aretha definitely came off as uninterested and perhaps even a bit annoyed. Sounds like a diva attitude to me... the guy was just asking simple questions and she didn’t even want to answer some of them. That’s her right, I know-she could have gone about it a bit differently if she didn’t want to be labelled a diva however. Either way, she probably wouldn’t have cared what any of us thought and she does deserve the title ‘diva’ in the best sense of the word. RIP Aretha

This is a woman, confident in herself and her abilities, having seen and done and overcome so much in life, accomplished in more ways than most people can imagine, without guile or pretension, just saying it like it is and how she feels. If anyone thinks she's casting shade at or in anyone's direction, that person needs to pump their brakes, take a step back and take a good long look in the mirror and reassess the decisions they've made in life.. period. Deuces. 🙏✌️

Don't dare compare any artist to "The" Aretha Franklin...a true pioneer, artist, and musician...able to slip on Gospel, Opera, Soul, Pop, and genre and do it BETTER than anyone...and she plays the piano at a professional level...Don't compare her ..she has her own lane.
