Just simple chords. Here and there a major7 or a dominant7 other than that just simple triads yet the song is so full and dynamic. Amazing.

Hello (hello) sunshine So glad to see you sunshine Hello (hello) sunshine It's been dark for a very long time I can't explain what I've been through (no, no) Trying to live my life without you People say I act so strange (oh, yeah) But you got the power to make me change Hello (hello) sunshine So glad to see you sunshine Hello (hello) sunshine It's been dark for a very long time Without you sunshine (without you sunshine) The world is such a lonely place (lonely) And without you sunshine (without you sunshine) My heart was filled with an empty space Without you sunshine (without you sunshine) The wind and the rain The wonders of spring Don't mean a thing Without you, baby Without you, baby Without you, baby Without you, baby (without you) Now I know everything is alright (you know) No more pain, no more sleepless nights (oh yeah) My days were dark but now I see (oh yeah) Because my sunshine has come home to me Without you sunshine (without you sunshine) The world is such a lonely place (oh yeah) And without you sunshine (without you sunshine) My heart was filled with an empty space (oh yeah) Without you sunshine (without you sunshine) The wind and the rain (oh yeah) They don't mean a thing (Don't mean a thing) the wonders of spring without you, baby (Don't mean a thing) oh without you, baby Oh without you, baby

Ugh...shame on me for not even knowing this gem by Ms Aretha Franklin. Been listening to her all of 38 years or so and didn't even know about this one till the Magic/Larry documentary.

W.P.Harry Schouten Yes that’s correct. Ronnie Miller is my dad and he wrote many songs solo and along with Mr. Curtis and Mr. Don Covay (who wrote Chain of Fools).
@rosemaryswan4066 жыл бұрын
"King" Curtis was also a musical director for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. W. P. Harry, thanks for your disocgraphical piece, it was very informative.

Maceo Woods and the christian tabernacle choir originally did this. Yes, it was a gospel song.

I think Wilson Pickett sang it first (earlier in 1968) but I prefer this version
@sojlcd560111 жыл бұрын
basically it ain't Aretha song. Bettye Lavette and Hank Ballard sing it SO well tho

Love Aretha but I like Wilson Pickett's version better. 🌤
