I have wanted to do commentary on this issue for months! My godmother said the same thing when the movie "RESPECT" hit theaters. And she's not one to gossip. This what a lot of 'church folk' did back then and they are just as bad now as they were back then but you never hear them airing their backdoor sickness. They rather stay condemning people who don't even share their religious ideologies and beliefs. For the record, incest was very common back then and the mothers dealt with it because so many of them depended on their men for them and their children's survival.
