This song is a jam! and why do I love those backup singers so much. Their part is great, but I love the small but groovy moves they've got..especially the lady in the middle! Anyone know who they are?

The soul of those high notes 🎶 soars to the heavens! Aretha can make you dance and take you to church at the same time! So happy I got to see her live before the Lord called her home a year later!

That part! 3:03. This was a time where talent & soul was expressed in a way you just don't see anymore. R I.P. Aretha, you made a mark in soul history we'll never forget.

I swear I remember another performance of "Rock Steady" around the same time on Soul Train or another show where she's wearing the traditional African garb she started wearing during the Young, Gifted & Black era. Maybe I'm just misremembering. Either way I love Aretha. She is the Queen Of Soul for a reason. Bernard Purdie kills it on drums on this and the entire LP.

The cure for America’s ills: BRING BACK SOUL TRAIN as the nation’s weekly dance therapy session! Republican/Democrat, black/white, young/old, gay/straight, girl/boy, rich/poor, cat/dog, foreign/national, disillusioned/hopeful - it didn’t matter a damn thing, you got on da floor and got your funk on and enjoyed the fact that we are all one big beautiful dysfunctional family and that’s OK. ❤
