My mother took her own life in may of 2001, I was 8 at the time and found her on the bathroom floor. My father gave me a Beatles CD with this song on it; and this song has always touched me dearly. Finding this version, and the one by Ray Charles has been so special to me. While dealing with my own depression and suicidal ideations, I turn to God, Ps. 34:18 and I pray, I listen and I cry. He is the only one who can repair and heal, Dear God please let my "cup" overflow, mend my heart and anyone else who feels lost. Amen.

i remember being in london in june of 1970 when the movie "let it be" came out.. being huge beatles fans, we went to see it and left pretty depressed thinking about how they were so obviously breaking up. we went into a pub for a beer and dinner after the movie. it had a jukebox and i walked over to see what beatles songs they had in it. saw aretha's version of that song, which we hadn't heard yet. it moved us to tears...still does. all hail the queen...
