This helped me a whole lot with the character I've been working on. I hadn't considered just how much you could do with that hair tab, and now not only does my boy have some fancy ears and a tail, but I made some goggles and a neat scarf too. Thanks so much for this tutorial, it really expanded my horizons with the kind of stuff that can be made in vroid.

If you're struggling because it is only hair 001 and nothing else under hairs in Unity, VROID, Camera/Exporter -> Export On export info, go to Material Reduction and Uncheck Combine Hair Mesh. Export as normal after that.

I clicked component and find skinned mesh render there for the hair joint. On the right side I filled up the parts with the word 'none' then tried to use bone weight transfer then it worked. I hope it will work with you as well. Goodluck!

When I open my prefabs I don't have the "joints". I've tried every combination in the tool to assign the tail, but receiving "No 'SkinnedMeshRenderer' attached" to my object I place in the top of the BWT. Any tips?

i got the same. for the skinnedmeshrenderer, you have to click on each part of the hair, then go to compnonent > mesh > skinnedmeshrenderer (just click it and it attaches it). that sorts out the first issue. i haven't figured out how to find the joints though!

Teeth is something you can't edit too much. You can turn on the vampire fangs or monster teeth using the blend shapes within unity (you can see that in my blendshape video)

if you want to go crazy with editing you can import it the model into blender and do the edits there, but If you do that you have to manually re-do all the spring bones and blendshapes in unity.

In previous versions we found it would cause errors sometimes if Root’s transform is not Default. Instead, we recommend moving this object in the Hierarchy to be Root’s child.

Did every single step, still couldnt get this to work properly. The root of where the tail starts is still connected to the head, even though the rest of the tail isnt. Ive gone through everything I can trying to figure out wtf to do and I just cant figure it out

When this happen it means 1) the hair wasn't exported to NOT be joined [meaning it was joined] 2) the hair bone set wasn't moved into the new location 3) The rebone tool wasn't used on the hair bone set. 4) the rebone tool wasn't used on the strand itself.

most blendshape you can do out of vroid is turn them off and on. If you want movement you can take it to unity. I have a 5 part series on a 2 in one model and it shows wings getting blendshapes.

I can't get this to work properly and some things are very different from the tutorial now, which surprised me since this video isn't really old. All I do, step by step: - Import the UniVRM-0.73.0_af50.unitypackage plugin inside Unity. (I was using the last stable version before, UniVRM-0.66.0_39d5, with no success either.) - Click the button called VRM0 and click "Import", and import my character which is just a nude male model with the tail and nothing else. - Drag the character from the Assets list to the Hierarchy list on the left. - Since there is no "Open prefab asset" option like you show, instead I click Prefab -> Open Asset in Context. (There's another option called "Open Asset in Isolation" and many others, like Unpack). - Import the "BoneWeightTransfer.unitypackage" Inside unity, then click "Tools" -> BoneWeightTransfer. (I also tried importing both plugins before adding the character in Unity, no difference.) - Add "HairJoint(big random name)" in the first slot, Head in the second slot, Hips in the third slot. Click the button to start the plugin. - Get the error "MissingComponentException: There is no 'SkinnedMeshRenderer' attached to the "HairJoint-27e4fbf9-c5e0-4be5-8c7b-02aea77c0d31" game object, but a script is trying to access it.". - Click the "HairJoint(big random name)", and in the right panel with the infos I click Add Component -> Mesh -> Skinned Mesh Renderer. - I then click the Mesh area and change it to the one that looks like the tail. - Get the error "Bones do not match bindpose." and can't find any way to fix it. Try to run the plugin again, get the same error. - Add the Hair001 to the slot anyway and try to run the plugin, this time it says "Success" in the console. - Export and the result is a tail that spins like crazy when I move the head up/down from side view, it seems like the very base of it is properly attached to the hips, but then the next part gets attached to the head again. If anyone watching this video now was able to do it, please share which versions of everything you're using. I tried all the stables and all the "latests" versions of everything with no success for now. =(

Is there any way to kinda smooth out that diamond shape more? I've run into issues when trying to make fox tails and fluffy cat tails where at certain angles, that diamond hair shape is super apparent, even with smoothing out the taper of the hair as you did. if iI do this the tail for me is just stiff its stuck to the hips but it doesn't move much

if you move the head does it not move? If its still stiff, you may need to adjust the bone to make it less stiff

I think it was figured out if you click on the avatar there should be a thing ont he right that says VRM first person and renders, a slot there may be empty. You can move bottom renders to the missing slot and change the size number to delete redundancies at the bottom

@@ArgamaWitch im sorry i said that wrong. i got it all into unity and stuff and i got to the prefab part and somethign goes wrong because when i finish up 90% of the tail stays still but the first joint that should still stay in the body is the only point that moves with the head i dont get it :(

Make sure you move the bone group from the head to the hip. Transfer the bone group from the head to hip using the transfer tool. Also select the individual hairs and using the transfer tool transfer each one of the tail from hip to head. Usually when its still attached one of these steps were missed.

@@ArgamaWitch Hello again... here I am a year later with the exact same issue as before >.> I have been away and forgot a lot of things so I rewatched you and ended up with the same issue as before -_-... I made sure the hair group is pulled up to the hips and transfered just as before. but there is still one bit stuck to the head same as before. I have no idea what i did to fix it last time :*(

if its okay i would like advice on something Ive downloaded all that you said in the tutorial , got it to load correctly but i cant. turn the head to check the way you do is there something more I'm missing ? I'm currently working on my bunny tail to get it to stay in place , i still am learning how to make my own tail as well which is an even bigger process because its a tail like vaporeons and i have no idea where or what else i need to do i cant get the prefab thing to show up. but when i opened it it made me make save a prefab on its own. so I am not quite sure what I'm missing or if i missed steps or something i keep seeming to just be stuck getting to the next steps

You need to hit the play button in the middle, and then select scene (should auto to game). Then you select the head in the hierarchy, and you can move it with the rotation tool in the top left corner.

@@ArgamaWitch i did that , I switched back to the scene section but I couldn't right click on my self to open up the prefab you mention I opened it by finding it to the right of the program where it said to open prefab but I don't think that was the correct way I also started out haveing everything I need to move the hairbones , such but. i realized I had no bones in my tail at all so I redid it and put bones back in but then I couldn't find the rest of what I needed to put everything together. but I was also getting random errors that I couldn't quite figured out but I did follow it exactly. ima try again one more time in full and see what happens again.

@@ArgamaWitch i finally started again trying to get tails to work and i got it to work except some of the tail is sticking through and the tail loses All movement is there a solution for that ?

What part of the assets folder do you import the physics plug-in to? Does it go in the packages folder or just the general assets one? I’m asking because, the first time I put the VRM importer into Unity, I put it in the wrong folder so it wouldn’t work😅

same thing, you just have to reassign all pieces when doing the bone transfer tool

My all hair is importing as 1 hair ;-; What do I do ;-;
