Argentina's Northwest - Things to do in Salta, Cafayate & Purmamarca

I traveled to the Northwest of Argentina to explore the colorful valleys, taste the wine and to show you the best things to do in Salta, Cafayate and Purmamarca

The stunning regions of Salta and Jujuy are not as popular outside of Argentina but offer so much to see and do. I've heard of the Valles Calchaquiés and the Hill of the seven colors before but I was overwhelmed seeing it myself.
Starting in Cafayate I take you on a journey to both regions and introduce you to the wineries of Cafayate where the Torrontés is produced, I explore the Quebrada de las Conchas with its rock formations, I visit the Hill of Seven colors in Purmamarca at the Quebrada de Humahuaca and I show you around in one of the most beautiful cities of Argentina: Salta.

Again I was able to fly the drone to give you a scale of these impressive landscapes and I got some really nice aerial footage of the red Canyons as well as the vineyards and Cafayate.
Beside all those sights in Salta & Jujuy I recommend you to try the local food. The empanadas, the locro, the humitas and tamales are the most typical food and so delicious!

Desde Perú, que me recomiendan hermanos Argentinos, Jujuy o Salta? donde es más andino, quiero bailar los Tekis jeje aconsejen que no se donde ir.

Anais HH ambos son muy salbajes, si vas a ir a Jujuy o Salta asegúrate de que sea la capital, eso si no te gusta el calor y bichos. En mi opinión eligiria Jujuy ya que la gente trata bien a los extranjeros, te lo digo yo que soy de Buenos Aires y tengo familiares en ambas provincias.

Jujuy es mas parecido a a la Sierra Central Peruana. Pero te recomiendo ambas provincias , variadas, espectaculares. En cuanto al factor humano, sin dudas el salteño es mas cálido y amigable. Mi experiencia en varios viajes.

Hi Steve, this is embarrasing, but I'm from Argentina (BA). I'm just planning a trip similar to this one you did. I have a couple of questions. How many days you spent in each place? I mean Purmamarca, Salta, Cafayate, etc. And how many hours you must spend on walking during each journey? . Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Cheers!

Do you know that Humahuaca is not Salta, don´t you? It´s the most importat thing that you have to remember. Please, you can go to Jujuy downtown (San Salvador de Jujuy) and take a bus to Quebrada de Humahuaca. You don´t need to take all things in Salta. jaja You could know San Salvador de Jujuy jaja Because you were in this province. Enjoy your tamales. :)

I sure do, this is what I mention in the video and wrote in the lower thirds. Salta is the central hub for tourists who come to the north of Argentina - if they search for tips and things to do in the whole region the majority is searching for "Salta". All my videos are created in that way to be able to showcase a bigger picture starting from a place outsiders have heard of and going wider with showing places that are lesser known ;)

To clarify. Salta and Jujuy are two different provinces. The title creates confusion. Cafayate is in Salta. Purmamarca is in Jujuy. Misinformation can confuse tourists and can impact the local economy when planning trips to places that are located in 2 separate and different provinces. Educate and research before planning your trip.
