There was a rumor that someone in the NFF (or NFA as it was known back then) pressured Coach Westerhof to include Eguavoen and remove half-caste Reuben Agboola in the RFB position. I don't know how true it was, but I did remember wondering why all of a sudden, Agboola was no longer in the team.

I am not sure you know so much about football. It is a shame u are using such degrading words on a very impressive and technically sound Nigerian team who despite the fact was appearing in the world Cup for the first time and did very well against a very experienced Argentine side who were runners up in Italia 90 and champions in Mexico 86. Nigeria went ahead to top the group against the same Argentine side who were humiliated out of the world Cup by Romania but Nigerian lossed in style to a very experienced Italian side that have most of their players in a Milan team that just defeated Barca 4-0 to win the 1994 champions league. Nigerian was rated by Fifa as the second most entertaining team in that world Cup 1994, being second to the eventual winners, Brazil. Besides, Sunday Oliseh marked out the great Maradona despite the fact that Maradona was under the influence of drugs. That match made Sunday Oliseh very famous in Nigeria for his role against Maradona. It was after that match Maradona was exposed and suspended, eventually missing the final group game against Bulgaria where Argentina lossed 2-0 and the second round humiliation in the hands of Romania. That Nigerian side was not a bad team, no matter the derogatory words you use. At that time they were ranked by Fifa 5th best in the world. Just like u boast of Maradona, we also had Jay Jay Okocha. You can watch his display in the match against Italy in that same world Cup.

When you want to criticise one's opinion there's no need for negativity. Telling me i don't know much about football. Who told you I'm not aware of everything you have said? Despite how entertaining we were, wasn't it inexperience that caused us to crash out of the World Cup? Argentina lost 3:2 to Romania and that was not a humiliation because they had lost their best player and leader in the person of Maradona.

Commentary could have been better. Sounded a bit biased against Nigeria. The refereeing could have also been better. There was a lot of simulation and play acting by Argentines.
