You know the name of the mother usually falls into oblivion after a few generations, right? People from the Philippines have all Spanish surnames, yet very few have any Spanish ancestry in them at all. There are words that comes from Italian, but as far as I know the language spoken in Argentina is not Italian, but Spanish. Are you bringing up language as an argument in your favour and yet you dare to ask me to be logical and objective? Please, don't make me laugh. Grow up. Argentinian food is in no way more similar to Italian food than it is to Spanish. This is not an opinion nor me being "subjective, this is a FACT. The strongest and obvious influence in Argentina IS Spanish. That doesn't mean Italian influence is insignificant nor small, it is actually very significant and a huge influence in Argentina. But to say that Argentinian culture is Italian culture with "a little bit of Spanish" is delusional to say the least, and comes from a place called hispanophobia and a huge inferiority complex. Slang: Whatever, in France they use English, doubt they are mostly of English decent or that England is a huge influence in French culture and society. Anyway, both Spanish and Italian. Accent: Actually kind of. Though most Italians I've met speak Spanish like... Spaniards. They sound nothing like Argntinians. And all Italians would deny to sound anything close to an Argentinian, they can tell the difference very easily. What about actual facts and not a 5 years old kind of arguments?. Actually, it is pretty clear that Argentina influence is mostly SPanish, history, culture, society... Spanish all the way. With great Italian influence, but mostly Spanish. You are the one who is blind, you only see what you want to see, and frankly, you also seem to be pretty ignorant and immature. What about you grow up? Good riddance. PS: The fact that most Argentinians are decdendants of SPaniards has been proven over and over by genetics and genealogy studies, though close to 60% of Argentinians have indeed Italian ancestors, over 80% of them have Spanish backgound, which means that though most argentinians are Italian descendants, most of them, and many more of them, are actually Spanish descendants as well. The Italian surnames beeing more common is mere coincidence, and has to do a lot witht he fact that Italians are the "newcomers", while Spaniards were there earlier and were part mostly of the "old population", and in the past couple of centuries there was a great migration from Italy, that's why the number of Italian surnames is higher. @@torrezno1990 Incorrect, per 23&me - Most Argentines have Spanish ascestry predominantly, alot not all have some Italian dna,, with a little Indian American dna and a tiny amount of WestAfrican dna 3-10% on average . Italian ancestry is not unique to Argentina ,most Hispanics have some Italian ancestry, though Argentines often have a slightly larger percentage of Italian anscestry . Argentines are genetically Spanish, Spaniard is a ridiculous term conjured up by racist, the people of Spain, are Spanish . If you look at at a group of Argentines. I grew up in Philly with the sole Argentine family on the block in the 1970's , they were generally a Caucasian, some sort of Latin people and the Latin was 'Spainish, and not white Northern Spain,,aka Iberia, but Southern Antonia Banderas Spain, those people looked Spanish, because ethnically they were Spanish, my friends did not look like the Italian Americans I knew in Philly, they looked different than that, Italians have a more out there distinctive Mediterranean look , especially Southern Italians. Argentines especially the older GenXrs, boomers and silents have a Latin Southern Mediterranean look to but more middle of Spain, Southern Penelope Cruz look. Reminder The Italian race is in no way shape or form superior to the Spanish race , if anything the reverse may be slightly truer, per scientist in Europe the Spanish live a bit longer , no , on average ? And if yous are talking a beauty contest, from my childhood eyes in 1970's Philadelphia,or a 'Latin versus Latin beauty contest' , my Argentine friends who were clearly not Nothern Italian, and looked Spanish, were just as cute or pretty , if not prettier than my Italian American friends, but that goes for all Hispanics, the Puerto Ricans, just about the only Hispanics around back then , the fewer Cubans, generally those people were absolutely gorg, in general, just a good looking people, but that goes for every ethnic group., black Americans, Anglo, Irish white Americans , every ethnic group was slighter, skinnier in the 1970's , but cute , in general. People were genetically less mixed ancestry wise, and you could tell the differences between each group back then, they all had a more distinctive look, Like most Hispanics , Argentines could pass as Italian easy, but you can see that they're noty, 'Italian, "IItalian " , I can see the difference betweeen Penelope Cruz, Antonio Banderas from Spain and the Italian American actors Al Pacino, Sal Mineo, Monica Belluci, Southern Italians have more West Asian admixtures and some like the Sicilians have a little West African admixture, the Southern Spanish are genetically the same as the Sothern Italians with more Moorish admixtures. But again as ethnic and I'm excluding Iberia, Northern Spain, Portugal and France, and referring again to older GenXrs, boomers and Silents , in all the Americas, amongs the Hispapanics Argentines tend to have a more disticnt look as theyre have much smaller percentages of African, Native American or Northern European , like say the Cubans and Puerto Ricans who whiter than the Argentines, yet on average have more WAfrican anscestry, the Argentines 'Caucasian' but the Cubans and Puerto Ricans are 'whiter' cause they have a higher percentage of Northern European dna than Argentines( got it racist out there ). So again among the Hispanics, Argentines are the most Spanish people in Latin America, percentage wise again per 23&me. And it's okay to be ethnic Spanish Argentina, it's okay, in a way it's neat, to look at an Argentine , with those dark eyes and black hair alot of them have, is to look at what a Southern Spanish person looked like during Columbus's time before they integrated with other ethnic populations. So it's established that Argentines are predominantly a Southern Spain type people, but let me throw the silly ones obsessed with the idea of Italian ancestry a bone, the younger Argentines, the Millenials, Z's are ethnically more diverse, with ancestors from all over the world.

We are not a homogeneous country, the 23andme companies mean nothing, only a small percentage of the population does these tests, here in Argentina Europeans came from everywhere, more Italians than Spaniards, do not take into account the "Italian-Americans" "Italians" who immigrated to the United States were not true Italians, they were SICILIANS so don't use them as a parameter to define what an Italian is, you yankees don't know what an Italian is, because of the SICILIANS who are genetically Greek and culturally they have nothing to do with Italy, an erroneous stereotype was created of what an Italian is, besides it's funny that you say that we Argentines are from "the south of Spain" when literally 90% of the Spaniards who they arrived in Argentina they were not Castilian, they were Galician, Galicians do not speak "Spanish" and genetically they are closer to the Irish than to the Mediterranean, everything I told you you can look for on your own

@@facundocotta2694 No country in the America's is homogenous , so for example their are solely so called white Haitians, and there are black Argentines and Asians, though generally the minority. But in all the America's Agentina comes close, especially for the older ,over 49 genXrs, baby boomers and Silents, they're very homogenous dna wise, because people from all over the world have gone to Argentina, from Kenyans, to Swedish, all over, highlighting Argentinians middleage and older, the vast majority of those Argentines are solely or vast majority Spanish, not even Iberia which includes Portugal and Southern France, but Southern Spain, which does include North Africa. And those people, the Argentines I grew up with in Philadelphia, all of them looked distinctly Spanish, you could see they were majority of one specific ancestry and that was Spain which remember Spain is in Europe, you do know that right ? In contrast you could see that the Puerto Ricans and Cubans with on average 70 to 80% solely European ancestry, whereas the Argentines average 85 sometimes 90%, European ancestry, yet the Argentines looked the most 'Spanish ' of them as they had vastly Spanish dna, but the average Puerto Rican&Cuban have more 'Northern' European , Northern Spain, France, British Celtic even Germanic dna. So if this makes sense to you, on average ,the average Argentine has a higher percentage of European dna anywhere from 85-90%, than Puerto Ricans,(70%) Cubans(75-80%) and Mexicans (-+45-55%) , yet % wise, Puerto Ricans, Cubans and I'm going to say it Mexicans are whiter than Argentines. First scientist say there's no such thing as the white , brown, black , yellow or red race, there's just ancestry and ethnic groups, so for example freckled , Bangladesh ancestry so accordingly again, Puerto Ricans , Cubans and Mexicans are whiter than Argentines, because on average they have a higher percent of NEuro/British type dna, what I would call 'the blond race' than Argentines do and that doesn't make one nation's people better than the other. But do remember because of Spain and England we have American countries, so I think those 2 countries are the greatest in Europe, with the United States being the greatest country in the world.
