Argentinian guy passed the Hungarian citizenship interview 🇭🇺 (EN-HUN subs)

Dailan is Argentinian and lives in Buenos Aires. He started studying Hungarian one and a half years ago with the intention of passing the Hungarian citizenship interview. He finally did it, and he was kind enough to share his experience with you guys.

I think the most interesting he said was motivation, having a freinds who's willing to communicate daily in hungarian with him and going to classes and having tutors . So secret is dedication and time

I also find it hard to learn vocabulary, especially as I’m not a spring chicken any more. But a few simple things help me - repetition of course, but most of all putting words in context, hearing and recognising the words in subtitled films or videoclips etc. Also, writing down lists of related words, antonyms etc

Az Osztrák-Magyar Monarchia ideje alatt már vándoroltak ki magyarok Argentínába, ez a 20. század elején is folytatódott, majd nagyon sokan disszidáltak az 1956-os forradalom idején. Én is sok argentínai magyart ismertem, amikor iskolás voltam: volt egy lány, akivel leveleket váltottunk, majd el is látogatott Magyarországra. Neki már a szülei is Argentínában születtek. Majd egy osztálytársam is volt, akik az argentin államcsőd miatt költöztek haza a 2000-es évek elején. Akkor a fiú 14 éves volt, sose járt még Magyarországon, mégis szuperül beszélte a nyelvet és nagyon sokat tudott a magyar történelemről is. Argentínában nagyon összetartó a magyar közösség, és vasárnapi iskola is van, ahol a magyar származásúak tanulnak magyarul, magyar történelmet, stb. Ez a fiú bár azt mondta, hogy argentin, de biztos, hogy ő is magyar származású, ezért is kezdett magyarul tanulni és folyamodott a magyar állampolgársághoz.

Hace muchos errores yo lo hablo mejor que él así que puedo decirlo. El húngaro no es un idioma difícil pero es MUY RARO. Él tiene un nivel A2 máximo

The thing about how many hungarians live here is subjective. If we talk about ethnic hungarian or the descendants of those, there are of course a few dozens of thousands, but if you add the slovaks (like me), Russyn, romanians, North serbians etc we are like hundreds of thousands and since those countries dont welcome us we all commit to magyarization (? there are only 2 organizations which teach hungarian in Argentina: LAMOSZSZ and the university of Buenos Aires (both have the same teacher). So getting in is quite difficult because there are so many people that even the websites colapse.

Gratulál! Én is megpróbálok megszerezni a magyar állampolgárságot. Véleménye szerint milyen nyelvi szintet ért el? Talán B1, B2 ...?

How can he apply for the citizenship, if he's never been to Hungary? Does he have Hungarian ancestors?

Exactly. He is applying for Hungarian citizenship on the basis of Hungarian ancestry. That's the main condition. There's going to be a part two and I think we talk about his ancestry there. The thing is, our initial video turned out to be more than 1 hour long, so I had to split it into smaller parts.
