I wrote inside a couple of comments below. To sum up, I had the same reloading challenges as you with these, but having fired around 300 rounds with these primers so far, all fire, no problem, in my hammer fired guns. And as I wrote below, I am incredibly disgusted with Vista Outdoors and Olin Corporation, so having alternatives from around the globe is an awesome thing. Magtech (Brazilian), and Fiocchi (Italian) have served me well with metallic cartridge reloading. I have been using Cheddite shotshell primers for a long time before this recent ammo and primer panic and they are all fantastic. I traded some of my Cheddite Clerinox 209’s in early 2021 for small pistol primers when I could not get SPP’s. When the Cheddites became available again at 55 per thousand last year I happily replenished my supply. Thanks for the informative video.

It’s definitely a consensus that hammer fired guns have zero issue with these primers. I would rather have primers than none so definitely glad we have choices. Just nice to know what the potential limitations are and how to use them in the most efficient manner. Thanks for the comment and hope you have happy shooting.

Im argentinian. Those primers are known around here to be tought. If you re using a competition gun with light springs, you may experience some failure to fire. Other than that, they work fine. cheers!

They have harder cups . In a stock P-01 and custom Sp-01 with lighter springs they fire with no problems . I adjusted my XL750 to fully seat them. In my P365 XL, I got about 5% light strikes even after adjusting the press. Haven’t tried a Glock yet. Practice only. Would not use for competition.

Since making the video a while back it is defined a consensus that they are just a harder cup. Luckily primer availability is better and have more options now.

Both Servicios & Aventuras small pistol and small rifle primers use the same cup metal and share the same cup thickness. Both primers use the same primer compound formula and same amount of primer compound. They can be used interchangeably. But as with any rifle primer to pistol round swap, no matter who the manufacturer is this same problem will occur with light striking firearms.

Primers are the perfect example of how this (insane prices and mass shortages) has all been artificially constructe. Take CCI for example. They're able to crank out tons of 22LR for $0.06 a pop. While their primers are $0.10 a pop. The time, labor, materials, machines, and level of difficulty in manufacturing 22LR is much higher than that of primers. That's why historically, primers have been about 1/2 the price of 22LR. At this point in the game, anyone who can't see that it was all a scam from day 1 is either blind or a fool.

Yeah man, a lot of this “shortage” stuff has been mighty shady.
@tomgoodwin9161
@tomgoodwin9161 Жыл бұрын
A manufactured shortage it may be; don't want to argue about it because we've been screwed too many times. I will offer one aggravating factor though. During the time I was attending the biggest gun show in the west, I talked to several of the biggest commercial reloaders there and each time I heard the same thing. They more or less arrogantly told me they had a standing order with each of the primer manufacturers for a million (minimum) of each size primer, including shotgun size also. So the primer manufacturers have a reliable sale at a guaranteed price (say, less than retail but more than the distributor pays) and they can move every primer they can make. The folks who commercially reload and sell can, in times of shortage, sell every round they have and at ridiculous prices....more than a buck a round for 9MM at the worst of it....more for .45s and 40s and 10 MMs. The same for bullets....while the powder makers limit the size and quantity of orders to Joe Sixpack, the commercial guys are on a first name basis.....they're "In the business".

I actually had to look them up. I didn’t realize they were a parent company for so many others. Holy cow! I really wish the truth would come out about why there is still a shortage. I’ve heard stories about only producing for the military, still catching up, etc. On a side note I was able to get some Fiocchi primers the other day from Shaw Arms. Wasn’t like to good ol’ days, but now I have primers that should work better than the ones I just showed in this video.

Asher Dog, finally someone who agrees with me. I have not bought Vista or Olin primers in over a year since I found good alternatives. I do not want to give them any more of my money. Even though these Argentinian primers are a bit more labor intensive for me personally, it’s still better than giving those Vista and Olin SOB’s more of my money. In addition to this brand of primers, I have used Magtech, Fiocchi and Cheddite all with very good luck. Those are my new go-to primers. Thanks to Reloading Unlimited American Reloading, Southern Defense, Powder Valley and others for offering these alternatives.

I’ve loaded about 1,000 of these in my Hornady LNL press in 9mm. Shot about 500 of them so far with maybe one failure to fire (and that may have been a light strike from the gun 🤷🏼‍♂️). No issues loading (I did nothing special for brass prep) or getting them oriented in my Frankford Arsenal vibra prime trays. No strays in my packaging. Would I choose them over CCI, Federal or Winchester? Heck no! But if it’s between these and not shooting I would get them.
@SnowbirdProductionsTX

Glad to hear that you've had good success with them. I'll have to check out the prime tray that you mentioned. Maybe it's just a fault of the RCBS trays and the primers themselves. I gotta agree all day long...at least there's primers to be had.
@radomguy9678

Did you load these with a Hornady LNL AP progressive or the LNL single stage? These primers are not good with my Hornady LNL AP Progressive. Like the video creator stated, there’s something slightly different about them that cause them to be more challenging to insert in a lot of my brass. As far as in the Hornady LNL AP, too many of them (more than half) would flip or jam the auto priming setup. I quickly decided it’s not worth loading them on my Hornady progressive. However, I do load them with my Lee presses and the Lee Auto Prime system, even though they are “stickier” to insert. I am decapping and priming my 32 ACP brass before the remainder of the steps on the progressive press. It’s an extra step, as the video creator said, but hey - I have primers and the that’s a win. For 32 ACP, factory ammo is minimum 22 bucks a 50 round box where I am loading them for around 6.50 per 50. It’s definitely still worth the effort I have had every round fire so far using my hammer fired guns but I have not tried a striker fired gun combination yet. Thanks for the informative video.
@garrybowman9343
@garrybowman9343 Жыл бұрын
@@radomguy9678 Yes LNL progressive. Agree these primers are a tad stickier, but no more than CCI. Winchester are my all time favorites. They go in butter-smooth. My only suggestion would be to make sure your AP primer system is completely dialed in. I use both the AP primer system and pawl adjustment tools from Braggin Rights Precision Reloading. He’s here on KZbin and his little tools are fantastic.
@radomguy9678
@radomguy9678 Жыл бұрын
@@garrybowman9343 I have the Braggin Rights products too for pawls as well as primer setup. Yes, everything is dialed and I even double checked it. I have actually only used Winchester and Federal primers, not CCI, on the press other than the Argentinian ones, as I just bought it last year, even though I have been reloading with other 7 presses for over 10 years. Weird that they work so well for you and the opposite for me with everything else being equal. Anyway, I am not looking to troubleshoot the issue; I have enough primer supply that it’s not a problem at all that these primers do not work for my Hornady. And I think I mentioned that I use them with 32 ACP on my Lee progressive and single stage, and they do okay on the turret press. Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. Happy reloading!

@@garrybowman9343 I made the time to set up CCI SPP’s with my Hornady LNL AP today to compare it with the Servicios y Aventuras (SYA to make it easier from now on). As expected, the CCI went in butter smooth, to use your term. Perfect primer pick up from the Hornady primer system, too. Excellent insertion into my range brass. But again, SYA primers did not pick up well nor did they all insert well into primer pockets (maybe 65% inserted well vs. 100% of CCI, Federal, and Winchester). I am sharing that with you in case you were curious, that’s all. Press runs great, pawls and primer system are both spot on. But the SYA just is not a good option with the Hornady. If I ever get to the point where I have to use the SYA with my Hornady loading (not likely), I would decap then prime with my Lee single stage and its Lee Auto Prime setup, then resize on the progressive with no decap pin. That’s what I have doing with 32 ACP to try and use the SYA SPP’s, with success.

Just started loading these in .45 with SPP on my Dillion 550b. No issues whatsoever with seating. We'll see how the run in my G21 and 1911. Have to agree about the packaging though. The problem seating these and Ginex primers is that the mouth is slightly larger than our US primers. Therefore, I strongly suggested that you ream the primer pocket for correct seating depth. Also, some of the handheld priming tools may not be able to exert enough pressure to seat them either. As to the failure to go bang I've loaded 19 rounds and 2 did not ignite. Not Happy!

I have not fired mine yet, but I loaded 85 with zero hiccups in random range brass, no reaming, on a Lee 6000. Sounds like the issues people are having are related to specific combinations of hardware. I have presses that don’t like Winchester primers and presses that do, for example. All the presses seem to like CCI but some guns don’t. It’s all about specific combos for specific guns.

Do not make the mistake I did in buying these SA SPPs. I am very disappointed with these. Earlier this year I bought 2K of these because they were available. I tried a limited amount and had a few problems only with a revolver. I ended up ordering 4K more, thinking OK I'll only use with with only my semi autos (which had not exhibited any issues with the limited amount I had tried with them). Big mistake. With this second batch (seems even worse than 1st) I bought I have maybe 10% not go off in my STI 2011 open style gun. This is a gun with a hammer and 18lb main spring. Just today in a competition shoot, I had 4 not go off. I have had some not go off in my SVI limited gun (another hammer; not striker type gun). Oh and in my Dan Wesson revolver I estimate 25% will not go off the first time. This is in single action mode which provides more force than double action. If you use these for loads in a carry gun, you are putting your life at risk. I would not buy these if there's any chance you will be using these in a competition, unless you don't mind losing due to the ammo. I would not consider these for practice only ammo, unless they were priced less than half of a reliable brand. I have been reloading for 22 years. I have used CCI, Winchester and Federal small pistol primers in all 3 of the guns mentioned and not once experienced a failure to ignite. I also noticed the difficulty in trying to get these to flip in the primer tray. I'm guessing that the center of gravity of SA SPPs is closer to mid height than on other manufacturer's. I consider this only a small minor annoyance and is an order of magnitude less problematic than the failure to fires.

CCI have been available for a year online at 9¢, you must not care to purchase online? These are a tad stubborn to flip in Lee trays but not like what you’ve experienced. They seat extremely easily in my Lee 6000 in random range pickup brass. Next I’ll actually be firing them, haven’t had a chance, but from everything I’m seeing online, they fire no problems in a hammer fired gun with an extended firing pin (my primary setup). They don’t always ignite in striker fired guns by the sound of it.

I bought a bunch of the Servicios primers back in the Summer of 2021, so I have been trying to go through them. Since then I purchased some Fiocchi primers back in the Summer of 2022 and I just recently saw CCI available on Ammoseek as well. I have seen some other comments that people with hammer fired guns aren't experiencing problems like striker fired guns. I'll likely just make my PCC ammo (I don't have hammer guns) with the Servicios primers and use different brands for the striker fired guns. I hope that your range experience goes well. Happy shooting :)

Thanks. I made it to the range this morning. These primers functioned 100% in a hammer fired gun with an extended firing pin as well as a hammer fired gun (different manufacturer) with a factory firing pin. I got about 40% light strikes with the striker fired gun I brought, all rounds ignited in second attempt. These are a win for me since they’re cheap, run well in at least one of my presses and appear to be reliable in my primary firearm.
