Simple Green in my Ultrasonic Cleaner

In this video I talk about using Simple Green Extreme Aircraft and Precision Cleaner in my RCBS ultrasonic cleaner. I point out some technical specifications, clean a bolt carrier group to show the effectiveness, and cover cost and price comparisons to other products such as Lyman Turbo Sonic solution and Hornady OneShot Ultrasonic solution.

That intro though. Had me fired up! I cleaned my chain using the regular version of Simple Green diluted 1:4 at about 60c, and it works fantastically. The chain was pretty filthy, but looks close to new now.

Great video. I'd offer a couple tips. Anything with a finish, even nitride, put some surgical tubing or something similar down in the bottom of your cleaner to stop the metal-metal contact. It'll eventually wear that coating off. You should even do this if you're using a basket. Also, break everything down when you clean: extractor, etc. you'll need to recoat everything with oil, all the way down to internal parts and springs. Ultrasonic cleaning with strip every bit of oil off the parts. A quick easy way to do that is to set up a second cleaner with ultrasonic lubrication oil in it and ultrasonically lubricant the parts. Just take them out and blow them off just like after you clean them. And then from there you just reapply whatever normal lubrication you use for cycling the rifle.

This is a fantastic product! I actually have used this to clean vinyls seats on a boat, I’ve detailed for many years and i had my hesitation about using this but I thought i would try on a small cushion. I did all of it and no issues. I did wipe with a wet cloth after just to be safe

Thanks! I've been using this product for awhile now in my ultra sonic cleaner, but I used it straight. Didn't realize it was supposed to be diluted! LOL

What Temperature do you set it at? I have a large Sonic Cleaner that is at 160F.

I use the little parts tray just so I don’t have to fill the whole cleaner with solution. I have a basket, but that’s if I do stuff like larger loads of brass.
