The head is meant to do that. The little noise that you thought you heard was the little tilt switch that stops it from running when lifted up. This happens on the duoclean models as well. -Dirty, but not faulty 😊

We bought a coffee machine from an Argos store and it had been used. Someone had obviously bought it and returned it and Argos just put it back into stock. It hadn't even been cleaned that well!

As someone who works at a large electronics retailer here in the Germany in the service department I know it is common place to check returns and just chugging them onto the sales floor. But if you get new people in or people stop careing, such stuff sadly happens. But you usually at least check for such stuff. That is why vacuums often are non return items. Same goes with coffee makers and such. Other stuff like smartphones, laptops etc. just get wiped. Cables are probably the most returned items. We have an entire mass return collection box for cables being returned with broken packing.

Couple of years ago I returned a Hetty to Argos after it developed a fault after a few weeks. Apparently Argos have to return these cleaners to the manufacturer and have to phone them to arrange repair or return. After a few attempts, the member of staff couldn’t get through to Numatic and had to consult his manager. I wasn’t supposed to hear the furtive whispered conversation, but the upshot of it was that they would give me a refund and my used faulty Hetty would be sneaked back into stock. I wonder what poor sod ended up with that!!

They literally just did this with me!!! With a “brand new” shark duo clean cordless pet £350 and it was faulty and used. When my partner brought it home I specifically said “ well that’s already suspicious because it wasn’t in the original shark box it was in an Argos cardboard box” low and behold it was faulty and dirty. Took it straight back and swapped it for a dyson V10 absolute which came in its original box fully sealed and works a dream. They didn’t even argue with me I think as soon as I took it back in the Argos box they knew they had to accept fault

I may be wrong but some of those power heads turn off when you turn them upside down as a safety feature.

Forgive me but isn’t the Argos outlet solely for the purpose of re-selling items which have been returned to main Argos stores? So they are essentially second hand. Nevertheless, they certainly shouldn’t have had it listed as new when it clearly isn’t!

The majority of products sold on the Argos outlet are discontinued but brand new unless otherwise stated. This vacuum was clearly used but described as new. This is what it says on the product page of several items I have looked at on Argos listings: These products are complete with all standard manufacturers parts and accessories, in original packaging, and all supported by the Argos 12 month warranty.Please note that in some instances our clearance stock, although new, may have been subject to previous distribution within our network. A small percentage of packaging may show some signs of transit with the occasional box having been opened.

I had a "brand new" laptop from Argos with someone else's files on it. I returned it and was told - very defensively - borderline rude; "That's Hewlett Packard, not us." Not, "Oh that's worrying...we'll investigate it." Well, who checks at their end? Is there a procedure? There was something else with it too - that made me think, "No...that's Argos's fault", but I can't remember what it was. So yes, it's happened to me too. They must sometimes sell used gear and my experience was that I don't think they're too fussy either way. I don't think anything happened. They just asked me to choose something else. I stood my ground ( not easy for me; I hate confrontation ), got a refund and went to PC World.

I have never had a problem with Argos. That’s a mistake. When you buy from their actual stores, you should avoid these issues. That is pretty unusual. Hopefully you get it sorted.

Roger I had 4 various items advertised as brand new on Agros Outlet, and because these items were used, I was in my right to return them. They then had the cheek to ban me for "too many returns" what an absolute joke! They've done me a favour, because I will never ever shop with them again.. Currys PC World, in a word "Brilliant"..

I've heard of this happening before, that's why Argos make you save the packing. They just repack them, faulty or not and resell them. Not only only eBay, but in store. I think Watchdog did an piece on it years ago. Why are they not returning faulty goods to Shark, why are they just selling them on? Shocking from a large online retailer. You complain, good for you.

I'm amazed and shocked at argos for selling this in that condition as new. I hope you can get a proper replacement as I imagine that this would be a fantastic vacuum cleaner. Shark are usually well made with a 5 year guarantee. Unlike dyson. Lol.

I’m certainly not impressed with the build quality of my V11 as my torque head has a broken part on it already. Even though Dyson would send me a replacement head, they are getting the whole cleaner back next week.

@@ibaisaic .I take it that this isn't a keeper than Roger. Lol. Some people are still not convinced of the build quality and for £600 you wouldn't expect it to break in a couple of weeks. A busy bank holiday coming up and a hectic weekend in the shop awaits. I won't get a dyson anytime soon though.

Argos taking liberties again since Sainsbury’s have taken Argos over there costumer service has gone down i had this trouble last year i told them you need to pick it up they did reluctantly but 2003 i bought a tv and they delivered the wrong one so phoned Argos they apologised sent me the correct tv back then they cared about there customers has they don’t clearly now it what happens when big corporations like Sainsbury’s buy Argos they cut corners and money
