Hearthfire was always an unsung hero. For pc this was small potatoes because home mods were a dime a dozen prior. For consoles though it was pretty unique due to the lack of mod capabilities there. The added mechanics were definitely nice for modders though. Even the dreaded Creation Club gave more for modders to play with. File versions that don’t count towards the 255 limit? Yes please.

I could not agree more with the fist sentence of this comment. Hearthfire was under - appreciated at its release, and I don't think people realize how much of an impact it has played in giving more tools to authors to create even better modifications using its assets. :)

They have a schedule, they have to make sure what they've made is polished (excluding the engine apparently) they have to make sure stuff is market ready. I feel Elder Scrolls V can no longer be seen as the property of Bethesda. Modders who have put so much time, blood, sweat, and tears into this game are the real developers in my opinion. They’ve literally been keeping this game alive and well for years now. That’s why whenever I can I support modders by donating money. I know all of this is on their free time and have zero funding! If anyone in this comment section is a Skyrim modder, please know I appreciate you and all of your hard work so much! Even if your mods are ones I haven’t played myself thank you, for helping making this game immortalized!

Man Bethesda developers also make it with their love it's if people wouldn't fall in love with Skyrim there will be no mods people make mods to show their love to the game and improve it make it better . But saying that original developers make no effort it's not true. How the developer of Skyrim would feel knowing that someone don't acknowledge their work they also work their 4 to 5 years on it .
@logicalreality26803 жыл бұрын
The original developers are the reason we have Skyrim yes. But I feel Bethesda has just fallen a lot. They’ve had 10 years to bring something as potentially great as Skyrim to the table. I feel Modders deserve more attention because like the devs they could’ve moved on, and yet these amazing people continue to pour their time and knowledge and resources into passion projects that we get to experience and enjoy! Yes Bethesda is the one to get credit for the game existing in the first place. But I feel like it’s a good analogy to a stepdad vs a bio dad. The biological dad may have been the one to help conceive the child but you don’t give him credit for that child’s upbringing when it was the stepdad who put his time and heart into raising that child. Modders are the stepdad in this position, we have such an amazing and mod rich game because of these people! I hope the analogy made sense lol

Legacy of the Dragonborn is my all-time favorite mod. I had to uninstall it for a while because it literally takes over my playthrough. "Let's see, I'll be a mage this time time, living at the College of Winterhold, and...OOP...I'm living at the Museum and collecting stuff again." Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it is SO immersive. The storyline is well-written, and the amount of artifacts to be found appeases my not-so-inner hoarder. It may be time to fire it up again!

A mod that would allow the dragonborn to send his/hers followers to live in one of your houses would be a great adition to the world .Then your houses wouldn’t be empty and you could easily change your travel companion. This would really make a big difference especially for those who play without fast travel option. Great video thank you ! Got additions to my mod list !

I think this might be the best mod in any game ever. Many consider "scope creep" to be a massive problem in game development, even in mods for other games, but Icecreamassassin seemed to fall into scope creep, but then meet and exceed that scope. "Bite of more than you can chew. Then chew it" the meme goes. What's truly incredible though, is the community around this mod. It isn't just one guy, it's the mesh and texture artists, the optimizers, the musicians for the OST you hear throughout this video, the submodders criss-crossing compatibility for other mods, and the collators of all these little add-ons into modlists (personally I love Lost Legacy). This mod alone has a modding community the size of other games' entire modding communities, and more modders get attracted to this scene by stories like this.

LOTD has been my rock - the one mod I build my setup around. It simply combines everything that Skyrim players enjoy the most: A DLC-sized questline with twists, turns and plenty of lore, a gradual build-your-player-home mechanic and, most importantly, the urge for us all to be massive hoarders. And then on top of that, it provides us with reasons to actually go clear out dungeons we would have otherwise ignored, visit places we've never been and all for tangible reward. The museum is a literal manifestation of our playthrough's achievements and even with thousands of items on display, almost every single one carries a memory. Add to this the insane amount of compatibility to other hugely popular mods and LOTD becomes the single, definite hub that ties everything together. I honestly can't wait for the sequel.

There's one small thing I'd change since I start most of playthroughs as nobodys, That you work for an old person who owns the museum, after collecting a certain amount and building friendship you are given the museum in his will after x amount of quests/findings. Otherwise you can't really roleplay being a treasure hunter or thief or whatever that's poor doing it just to get by. You're basically given a palace from the get go.

Can I afford the space to keep this till I get back to the Museum?" it's so good for just collecting everything in the game, and the replica system is just fantastic. The player home safehouse also has my favorite feature ever, that just adds in your crafting materials from your storage straight to your inventory to craft, and then back again without having to rummage around for ten minutes finding the -exact- amount of stuff you need.

The video about this “Legacy of the Dragonborn” was very well done. The one thing I found out in this mod whilst exploring the museum I would interact with different parts not knowing that what I have in my inventory was being placed into it. I’m not talking about the artifacts but other things like soul gems. I like to keep a lot of the different sizes for using to trap and recharge on the go. Several (IRL) days ago I was exploring then decided to actually accomplish some jobs & missions when I need to recharge my crossbow. I have 2 of the 7 Varla stones filled at that’s all. All my black, grand, great etc soul gems are gone. I’ve been looking but still haven’t tracked them down. Sheogorath might be responsible. Have a GMFD!

Am I the only one who has gotten seriously addicted to fetching artifacts for Auryen?
@TheNextDecade2443 жыл бұрын
The only negativbe thing I can say about LotD is that it´s not really lore-friendly in some small but incre-hedibly striking ways. It's not much of an issue for most players, but it's still there.
@SynMods3 жыл бұрын
What exactly about LotD isn't your cup of tea, or doesn't strike you as lore friendly? Of course, if you don't mind sharing.
@TheNextDecade2443 жыл бұрын
@@SynMods Oh, I actually love LotD. It´s in every one of my playthroughs, but I´m also perfectly up for rejiggering the lore of the game even when I try to RP. The specific example that stuck in my head is the whole "Rebuilding the Amulet of Kings" thing, which is done almost incidentally for something that ought to be a massive accomplishment, and is then quietly sequestered in a museum.
@acidflux27813 жыл бұрын
Legacy of the dragonborn is definitely a must download mod that adds in content, as well as gives you a purpose to attempt to fill the museum with the artifacts of Skyrim. If you manage to fill the museum up to the brim then I salute you, it takes a lot of time and dedication to find and secure every last artifact in the game, not even including modded artifacts. Also I can't help but wonder why your game looks so much better than mine. I'm using the Rudy enb with cathedral weathers but it looks so much more bland in comparison to what is shown here

Though LotD is technically very impressive, at its core it's a player home with some trophy cabinets, and a compatibility nightmare. I realise I'm in the minority here but I just don't see the appeal. Great video though, love the editing.
@FlightofCrows3 жыл бұрын
It adds a complete questline, a new guild, an intelligent crafting system, and hundreds of new items. It completely overhauls skyrim to actively make both exploration and thievery more rewarding. It helps an old game feel new again by adding in new surprises to find and gives you a visible record of what you've accomplished in-game. Plus it basically makes you fantasy Indiana Jones. Who doesn't wanna be Indiana Jones? Entirely fair not to see the appeal, but I think you might be underselling the mod a wee bit by calling it a player home with trophy cabinets. I will concede the point on compatibility though, haha. It does conflict with a lot of stuff. I'm running 982 mods- including LotD- with near perfect stability, so it isn't insurmountable, but it's definitely daunting figuring out how to get everything to work together without breaking.

@@channelforcommentingstuff4960 I think... You and I might have a different idea of roleplaying. Game mechanics like static clutter don't affect me because the point of RP'ing as far as I perceive it is to IGNORE the game mechanics. You're pretending like it's real life. Why would it matter if they conflict when it's all being zoned out anyway? And I never pick up the clutter in homes anyway because I enjoy decoration (I don't even pick flowers in town) so it's a moot point whether it's static or looks prettier than normal. Plus I have so many mods that add pretty static clutter all over the game, it's practically inseparable at this point. lol And the Empire already knows you have scrolls and don't take them from you in base game. While you CAN give Dexion Evicus the blood scroll, you don't have to. And why would they? Empire has bigger fish to fry (like a hostile rival superpower, a dead emperor, and a rebellious province) to spend time worrying about a scroll owned by the Dragonborn (rightful emperor under cyrodilic tradition) that's being held in a secure location in one of their provincial capitals (or a hostile state if you go stormcloak). And if all that still bothers you? If you don't feel like the scrolls (or other items) can be put on display for lore reasons? Then the mod is already a step ahead of you. You can craft a replica of any displayable item you've previously held in your inventory at the replica crafting bench. Wanna let Lucan keep that golden claw? Make a replica for display. In fact, many items REQUIRE a replica. For instance it wouldn't make sense for the Grey Beards to let you keep the horn of jurgen windcaller, so if you wanna display it, you have to make a replica. I dunno. Seems like you might not have given it enough time. The mod DOES give acceptable explanations for most of the lore issues you mentioned, including why the museum exists, why so many relics are in skyrim atm, and the replicas for items you shouldn't actually own. I don't think you gave it enough of a fair shake to actually see those. But if things that increase graphical fidelity and make things prettier are a deal breaker for you, then there's no helping it. Seems pretty limiting since, as you said, basically ALL the best expansion mods do that, but you do you my dude. DO what ya need to do to enjoy the game. That's what it's there for!
@FlightofCrows3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I am quite aware that you can keep the horn in vanilla. That's why I said that the MOD requires you to use a replica. Because it really doesn't make sense for you to be able to keep it. It really does a damn good job of maintain consistency of what should and shouldn't be displayable, even going against vanilla at times. And I'm still not understanding your issue with the scrolls. If your in-game vanilla reasoning for being able to keep them is that not enough time has passed for people to harass you about it, why doesn't that work with the museum? The mod doesn't mess with time or anything. If it hasn't been enough time in vanilla, than it hasn't been enough time in the mod. And again, replicas. If it bothers you to display them, then there ya go. The mod has an answer for ya. I couldn't disagree with your idea of RPing more. Why can't you be the leader of every guild and champion of every daedric prince? You're (most likely) a shezzarine in a universe with dragon breaks. Why would you be expecting linear timelines as a matter of course in a universe known for its non-linear timelines? You're allowed to be everything because the lore of the game explicitly states that such a thing is possible. And PnP? Why on earth would you be trying to play by pen and paper logic in a video game? Why would you expect others to as well? Completely different medium with completely different limitations. It's like expecting sound effects from a book. And as someone who does a lot of PnP, I really don't think PnP can be called "true RP'ing". Anything that makes you feel in-universe and like you have agency is "true RP'ing", from LARPing to video games. They're all valid. I don't know where all this elitisms for PnP has been coming from in recent years (nostalgia? hipster mentality?), but it has it's own major limits that people seem to conveniently ignore. It's unhelpful and alienating to say nothing other than PnP is true RP. Let people enjoy their stuff. I guess I just don't understand the problem. Skyrim base-game is chock full of limitations and inconsistencies; Cities are too small, time moves too fast, distances are too small, instant eating of food and potions, lack of baths and toilets, limited dialogue & physical interactions, loading screens, the list goes on and on. Why are you able to accept those, but not ones from a mod? Your logic for what "is inter-connected and makes sense" doesn't seem consistent, and really just comes down to personal preference and comfort. What I mean by that is that there's nothing in the mod that's particularly un-immersive in comparison to vanilla, you've just had a decade to normalize vanilla's quirks in your head, and anything that deviates from that seems jarring. If the first game of skyrim you ever played had LotD installed as a matter of course, you wouldn't have an issue with it. It just clashes with what you're used to at this point. That doesn't make it intrinsically un-immersive, and people who use it aren't just sandboxing or playing doll house. They just don't have the same preferences as you. Honestly, it seems quite limiting only being able to RP in very specific circumstances, like it seems that you're implying for yourself. Must be really hard to enjoy new things when so little fits your criteria. Either way, I'm getting away with myself. My original point still stands. LotD is WAY more than a player home with trophy cabinets, and it's a whole lot of fun. And having fun with your games is all that matters.
