My husband and I have been married for 33 years and we have no children. I don’t regret that at all. I love babies but I’m always happy to hand them back. I find it’s other people who have a problem with our decision. I get asked quite often, and when I say we have no children I’m usually met with silence or a quick change of conversation. Or even worse, they might say “oh, we couldn’t be without our children. We love them so much”. That’s very hurtful, it’s implying we’re in the wrong 🤔
@VictoriaMagrath15 сағат бұрын
Im hoping that sort of mindset will begin to change soon. I mean it has to - so so many places in the world have such low birth numbers now that soon it won’t be so unusual to say you’re not having kids. I’ve only ever had one or two people be a bit taken aback by saying we’re happily not having kids - luckily most people are super normal about it. I also have about six very close couples to us who all don’t want children - I’m sort of positively hoping there’s a change in perceptions coming for the masses soon x
@kateleeder71917 сағат бұрын
I don’t think it is wrong for someone to voice their opinion and say they couldn’t be without their kids … it’s how they feel … just like it is how you feel about not wanting kids

My husband and I don't go to bed at the same time. He works late and when he comes home he needs time to decompress. In the beginning it bothered me, but once I realized it had nothing to do with me and it was actually a need for him, I just started going to bed when I wanted, giving him his time to play games and talk with his friends. Now I just go to bed feeling excited knowing that I will wake up with him next to me! I love morning snuggles 🥰 Sharing this to say that not everything needs compromise and all couples are different ☺️

These vids are always so helpful for people in a relationship with someone ADHD! My, The Husband and I have been together for nearly 14 years, and have learned how to manage. We both are 3 years sober now and it has done absolute wonders for our relationship but would love if he would watch more of Alex talking about it because he would relate so much to just about everything he said. I'm going to have to replay this for him. I actually had to unfollow so many creators because the drinking was just so in your face all the time, it's hard to watch once you gain new perspective on it and see how it changes so many people's mental health and rational thinking. I appreciate you guys showing insight into what marriage really is like-cause it ain't all rainbows and unicorns all the time, it takes work, lots of love, and communication like you said. Thanks again you two!

Love watching you two so much, it's such a breath of fresh air to see Alex so... I'm not sure what the word is... authentic and confident, maybe? He seems so in tune with himself and emotionally intelligent. As someone who has done their fair share of therapy, I find it so reassuring to see someone else whose done the work and has come so far. I'm intrigued to see how this dynamic will continue in the future.

This account is under my husband’s name but this is Sharon commenting. We have been married for 48 years with no children. We are on our 11th St. Bernard. At one time we had four and have always had two until Henry died last year. We now just have Edie. We have been very happy with just our doggies to love. However, now I am missing having grandchildren and them coming to visit. I just think you might end up regretting your decision. Maybe you should have your eggs frozen in case you change your mind one day. I jyst have to say that youtwo are adorable and I love your style. At 72, I am still into fashion. I enjoy your videos so so much. I live in Tennessee. Happy Holidays to both of you.

Lovely video. Not one you'd maybe expect to see at Christmas, yet perfect for Christmas as this time of year sees so many couples stressed and at each others throats. I commend you for your openness and honesty. I agree too, that if your marriage was not in a good place, kids would have torn you apart--they are not the "bandaids"(plasters) for relationships that some couples use them as. Glad you have reached this level of respect and acceptance at this stage in your marriage. I've been married 42 yrs to THE HUSBAND and there are always peaks and valleys----as long as you don't go off the cliff, you're ahead:).

Your previous ADHD video, and now this one, is a wake up call that my husband's therapist needs to be more open to medication. Similar issues..low drive, no routines (chores or self care), easily overwhelmed, chasing the next dopamine rush, up playing video games, drinking heavily 5 nights a week. I just gave up with the reminders and stay in my lane because he makes me sad. I'm hopeful by next Christmas he will have more of this figured out like yall do, because look at you!! So happy for yall. 🥲

Thank you for being so open and generous with your personal life. It was really heartwarming to see and hear your honest feelings. Before I say this, I want you to know I never had the maternal instincts either so I certainly understand and so I am not judging at all, but with that being said you may want to consider freezing your eggs, just in case something does change as you get older. I understand that your life is very busy right now but as you get older it’s natural for things to slow down a bit and for priorities to shift, and you just might find yourselves feeling like you have the time, and have a desire for a bigger family. It wouldn’t hurt to be able to have children at 40, or even later if you did change your mind. Like you both said you can’t look into the future so you don’t really now how you’ll feel 5 or 10 years from now so why not just hedge your bets just in case.

But you're right, if it's not right for you now then you've made the right choice for now. The thing about pet names is they can sound off to other people, and often they're not. If both of you are okay with a pet name and it comes from a place of love and respect then that's all that matters! It's so obvious that you love and respect each other, you could call each other almost any name under the sun, it doesn't change anything. I'm sure you have many pet names for each other that only the two of you know, just as it should be! ❤ As for the kids thing, even if you have kids, there's no guarantee that they'll be around when you're in your old age. And to be honest, that's totally okay. I'm 53, and don't regret not having kids, I did think that maybe, when peri hit, that might be the point where I may have regrets, but that just hasn't happened. To me, choosing not to have kids is no more selfish than choosing to have them - each to their own.
