the songs are definitely about her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez

This album was a gut punch for me, I was surprisingly floored by it. Sonically it captures her last three albums and solidifies Ariana's artistry, I think you have to go into it with the soundscapes, ideas and lyrics of her last three albums. But overall it captures the idea of her persona, her as an artist and all of her overall.

From what it seems in recent info Ariana never actually cheated on her husband and it was actually him that cheated and they spit months before she got together with Ethan and her and Ethan were both single when they met on wicked and with that it really changes the perception of the album personally

This album was such a pleasant surprise. I love how she is doing. This throwback sound to the early 2000s.!!!

Her album is a reference to Jim Carrey film eternal sunshine. The song is eternal sunshine references that Jim Carrey flim. If you watch that movie that song makes sense for the new video out.

None of the songs are really about Ethan, mostly about her last marriage. I also think watching the movie ‘eternal sunshine of the spotless mind’ would help a lot more to understand what the album is based on
@moonlightkayla49036 ай бұрын
to understand a lot of the album and music video u kinda have to know the movie eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. the song eternal sunshine mirrors the movie, about dealing with an ex who you may still have leftover feelings for and wanting to erase them from ur memory.

It's always an interesting thing when other people's reviews don't align with yours. I appreciate your feedback cuz you explained it really well on why it didn't work for you especially from a first listen and understanding that it could change and grow on you. I do agree that her first single is the only one that sounds like that on the album. I can say the same with her second single We can't be Friends. The rest of the album is giving 90s inspired R+B/pop reminiscent of Janet and Mariah and even Monica and Brandy which I absolutely loved from the first listen. As someone who doesn't listen to Ari's music often, I felt curious to listen to this one because I loved Yes and and the interview she did with Zane Lowe. Overall, I enjoyed this album a lot with Supernatural, Bye, The Boy is Mine, eternal sunshine, intro, and don't wanna break up again as my faves. Btw loved your explanation about Saturn which is something very new to me lol.

I feel like people want pop "bops" from Ariana, myself included, but I've come to realize and accept that she hates hates hates making that type of music, like she'll give you one or two every album but its not what she wants to do, she's a smooth r&b girly, I was so excited for house Ariana cause I felt it could lend itself to bops but was not shocked that the album did not sound like that. Still love this album, DW will always be my No. 1 but this sitting at 2 right now. I do miss One Last Time, Into You and Break Free sounding Ari but its just not who she is.

I know the idea in a reaction is to be surprised and experience the thing firsthand, but at least do some cursory research. If you dont know that she is referencing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, then you miss so much of the dreamy quality and the restraint behind the production, and the central conceit of the "eternal sunshine" being a memory of a love so painful you wish you can forget and erase it. This is a very mature post-divorce album and the thing you think is "missing" - the usual trapiana, high notes, whistle tones, yuh yuh, is not appropriate for the situation.

Completely agree with your overall feeling. It’s a well produced album and it has good lyrics but somehow, I feel like something is missing? It might be because I expected the album to be a continuation of the sound used for “yes,and”

ariana and her ex husband broke up in january but they were on and off for a long time, probably longer than we know which is why she refers to him as a situationship.

I find it interesting that you wanted more songs like Yes, And on the record when I’m of the opinion that that is the worst song of them all - to the point where it’s holding the album back from being a perfect 10/10 from me.

Babe, I am contacting you because I need you to listen to me, an album that has changed my life and that of a lot of women has come out. It has been a phenomenon for more than two years and has just been released in full. “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” “Women not longer cry” by Shakira is already out and I beg you to react to that project. For me, you are one of the coolest KZbinrs and Shakira has just released something so personal and at the same time so unique... please, I know you will like her please, do it for the arts and your fans, please 🥹 I promise you that Latinos will be playing and consuming your video to the fullest. You are such an inspiration, from Colombia, this is Gabriel and I really beg you, react to that album ❤️🩹

I love that "yes and?" doesn't have nothing to do with the rest of the album, it's like a manic moment of "f*** you all" and then returns to her introspective, sensual, emotional state of mind 😅

I feel like with this album she’s made it clear to me lol: she’s good at uneven albums. For me, Yours Truly was such a strong start for a debut album. Then, My Everything was good at the time but was easily trumped by Dangerous Woman which still stands as an amazing album. Then with Sweetener she tried to create a new sound and only halfway succeeded but perfected it by Thank U Next, only to turn the grittiness into soft and airy, but less structured with Positions. And now with Eternal Sunshine she regains the melodies that were missing from Positions but keeping the soft light style of that album.

I think this album and especially the song Eternal Sunshine would make more sense to you if you saw the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which she was largely inspired by and referenced a lot! Its also what she sort of recreates in her music video for We Can't be Friends
