So impressed with her managing to do this routine with all her injuries at this tempo and with this amount of content and coverage. Firstly, i commend Pasha's superb choreography which incorporates a massive amount of basic and traditional samba figures and not short changing on technical requirements. I loved the voltas, the batucadas, the fabulous spins and changes of direction. The cross leg action in the walks and promenades was fantastic and I loved her hand expressions. Congrats to her for throwing all she could muster at the hardest redemption dance by far. Sadly a few steps looked like they slipped/over extended - posisbly due to not leading with the toe? There was also an armography fumble between them at the 1 minute mark which disturbed the otherwise utterly spectacular flow. Despite these minor issues though, my god, I hope Ariana is proud of this - one of the best and most memorable Sambas ever. 9.

Wish I'd seen your comment sooner - what an education! If you watched this dance contemporaneously, what did you think of the criticism of the tempo? I also seem to recall some of the other sambas last season lacked a samba roll - do you think that has any significance?

Right? The whole rhythm was just totally off, the dance didn't go with the beat AT ALL. I thought my video was lagging or something.

The song wasn’t a right fit at all and to make matters worse they slowed down the beat so I feel like it was impossible for them to get into the right rhythm.

HUGE SPICE GIRLS fan here, Ariana was my pick for the #1 spot for the trophy. In my opinion i don't care for the cover that the singers did for this Awesome song. They did do it a little too slow and cut out two lines in the bridge. They ended it at But hip-hop is harder instead of finishing with the next two lines, we moonwalk the foxtrot, then polka the salsa. I love the group, her and the song plus how she dances but not this version of the huge hit i grew up on. They sometimes play the original song and that is what should have been done. I bet they could have gotten the rights for free to do so since 3 of the Spice Girls were on there and that they performed 2 become 1 live on DWTS in the past. I like this performance still. I just wonder if she could have placed second instead of third if some votes didn't come in due to this one. I love Ariana for the bond i feel with her over a horrible ex breakup, her choice in music and how great of a performer she is plus her fashion. She should have gotten second if America was so determined for Xochitl to be the winner. I'm happy for her. I did also vote for her towards the end. The second place one shocked me though because Ariana was always at the top so i thought 1st place, second place made the most sense if not first so that is why i wonder if this performance held back voters due to older voters who may not care for the song type and fans who love the song not caring for the cover version of it. 🤔

Listen Ariana has been battling a worsening ankle injury since Week 2, and more recently the back injury, add to that a potential fractured ankle last night.. all that to samba with. And she didn't let the slip ups and pain stop her at all!!

It's not by The Spice Girls, not original. Just making sure that people who don't know will know. I hate this cover version. It is a bit slow, I don't care for the voices, they cut off two lines in the bridge. They could and should have used the original song because they do do that on this show sometimes.

Close but no cigar. Ariana is beautiful, but this was not her best performance. The whole season I was waiting for her ‘moment’ when she finally broke down and let her vulnerability show and for her to make an emotional connection with Pasha on the dance floor. It just never happened in my view. Still underlying trust issues and insecurity sneaking through perhaps? But she’s a great dancer, fun to watch, and I know she’ll get many opportunities from this.

She owned the crowd and Bruno Tonioli thought she was saucy, he loves to see her confidence blossom. One 9 and two 8s for 25 out of 30 would work simply that only DM said "Scared for Ariana on this samba with her back pain recently" He added. "Looking a little awkward in places. Wasn't a big fan of this dance last night. Her comment to the judges saying "it's the same beat as last week's samba" ... went back to watch Xo's samba... and yes, it was the same. But Xo's was executed nicely and didn't have slip ups. Also, for those saying "why Samba?" The judge clearly felt that the Samba was her weakest dance, and they wanted to see her improvement. That's the whole point of a redemption dance, unfortunately, this one just didn't match the energy!

Carrie Anne said it's a bit slow so Ariana nicely said it's the same speed as last week's. She was correct. She still got a 29 out of 30 so idk what you guys are thinking. Carrie gave her a 9. The others a 10. Imo the song version wasn't good and is a bit slow. They sometimes play the original song and should have because that Rocks. The Spice Girls have performed on DWTS and 3 have been on it fully as dancers, Emma, Mel B and Mel C so I bet the show would have had the right freely to use their original song Spice up your life. Ariana could have been more pumped to that one. I didn't care for the voice of the cover and that they cut out two lines in the bridge of the song.

Saw them. My husband and I both said she looked like she was slipping all during this dance. She looked like she missed a move, and then towards the end, her one arm wasn't looking stretched right. I feel she should have got docked for these. They were so hard on Alyson, but then let Ariana get scored high?! Her last few weeks (minus one song) were cringy with her obvious pain level she had.
