I agree re: using one or just a few stitches which combined with different threads is a good starting point. Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn have done many textile pieces in this way. It's time I got their 'Stitchscapes' book and video out to study again. I'm sure my eyes will see it anew after all this time - it's a few years since I went to a Stitching Show in London to see their work exhibited! You've inspired me to push my boundaries but I still hesitate. J&J's book ends with the words "The more you look, the more you see. Keep looking!" How true.

I think it. wonderful that you're pushing yourself Jean. And when comparing yourself to yourself, (which is really the only good comparison to make) you will see how far you've come. That you still hesitate is understandable, as it's my experience that it takes years and years to work through that hesitation. "the more you look, the more you see..." indeed! ❤

Andrea I see the workshop listed on your webpage, seeing the cost of the dates and the times; however wondering about the materials and threads and supplies. I know you talked about 2, 18 inch fabrics. Will you be supplying any other materials? And how much will the materials cost?

Hi Dolly, all of that is in the email that you'll receive once you sign up. I'm happy to help with suggestions for threads once you've chosen the fabric kit from Pat Pauly. The fabric kits are $72. which includes shipping. Once you have that, you can send me the name of the fabric kit you've chosen and I can then help with thread suggestions. The threads you decide upon will ultimately depend upon you and how much you want (and are able to) spend. But I always recommend a few Painter's Threads in Soft Cotton (a #3wt thread) some of Stef Francis' threads and some other threads that will add interest. As I said, once you sign up I am happy to assist. Just know that I am traveling between now and the 15th of November, but that will still give you plenty of time to gather materials. There are still a couple spots open.❤

@@ArianeZurcher212 thanks for the additional info. $572 is basic cost. I will have to think on this amount. I also have a job interview on Monday so that will play in my decision on the workshop. As always I’ll be in touch. I would love to be in one of your workshops!
