my mom would love this. I could probably do this with my weaving too. This is a little like the wrapped warp technique. I'm gonna send this to her when I'm done watching it. she does slow stitching too.

That's interesting that you could do this type of thing with weaving. I only just started to really search for non traditional weaving and WOW! Amazing all the things you guys can and do. I love it!

@@ArianeZurcher212 I went to a library book sale and got a book that's a reprint from the 70s of a weaving book from the 30s. It had blueprints for how to construct your own looms. I was hooked! What's more, I also learned how to make natural dyes from plants. I have a giant batch of purple cabbage dye. And a nice bundle of milkweed and dogbane stems to turn into yarn/cordage to be dyed. Shopping at mother nature's craft store yields some very nice bonuses, if you know what you're looking at.

This reminds me of spinning yarn and knitting. Overspun yarn curls up like the bouillon tendril does. And the struggle of yanking that needle through the stitch reminds me of trying to move too-tight knit stitches along a needle.

Ah….I have not been knotting the tendril before moving on to the next one…..perhaps my tendrils will have more curl next time I make them. Great stitch update- many thanks!

Thx Elizabeth. If you want them to curl more, you'll need to add more wraps and when pulling through, make sure you are getting those last wraps to wrap more tightly, that's what will make the tendril curl. ❤

Oh yes, the thread choice makes all the difference in the world. Play with some different threads and see which works best. As you can see in the video the stranded thread, even though it was a rayon thread, made things much more difficult for me. ❤

These bullion tendrils are amazing as are the variegated threads / yarns you're using. But at about 3:30, you display a really gorgeous piece of work. I'd like to see more work like that and how one might approach it. I'm not even sure what to call it, is it a specific sort of embroidery? What are all the textured pieces of fabric I'm seeing?

Welcome! Yes, it's not easy, but with a little practice it can be mastered. I came up with this stitch years ago while playing around with the standard bullion knot and thought will just how many wraps can I do? Turns out = A LOT!! ❤😂❤

Thx Deb, let me know how it goes. You can even cut the thread after knotting and then begin again with a new length. I do that sometimes if I'm having a hard time getting the fabric to not crimp up on me. The down side to that is you then have a lot of knots at the base which can be annoying to work around if you're doing a great many from the same starting point. ❤

Hi Deb, who knows?! My grandfather was from Teufen, very near St. Gallen. Do you know where your family is from in Switzerland? My family's name was spelled Zeurcher, and then somewhere along the way it changed to Zürcher, but in America people have a hard time pronouncing the soft k sound when they see "ch" so it became a version of something between the two. Of course my first name presents a whole new set of problems for Americans! In any case - Hi! 👋 ❤️💕❤️
