Their wardrobe is very similar to my 2 year olds. She has 7 shirts, 4 leggings, 1 pair of jeans and 2 dresses. Everything is interchangeable mix and matchable. I didn't know that they had a name for this kind of wardrobe. lol. I just picked her clothes this way so she (or her dad) can pick 1 item from each drawer and look presentable. haha I also don't do graphic t's. She might get one for Christmas as her "something to wear" gift... but that would be my limit.

Haha! I don’t know if its just personality or consistency! We have always done bibs from the time they started solids. I have definitely stripped them down before though. The girls won’t even eat now without a bib! If I forget they just sit there and yell “BIBS!” 😂
@taylaroach94476 жыл бұрын
So funny! We did BLW with them and always used those same bibs you have but then they started ripping them off. So now we have shirtless kids for most meals. I’ve been watching a lot of your minimalist videos since we are in the process of moving from Georgia to Japan. So we could only take 2,500 pounds out of our house. With 2 kids and a newborn it seemed impossible but we made it! 😂

I’m starting to get away from the more graphic tees to super cute prints like feathers and horses or tractors etc. I’ve gotten rid of quite a few things already, but I already have a full wardrobe for both my kids in their current size. So I’m waiting till they move up a size then I will continue to go somewhat plainer in patterns and colors. Expecting our third in March so I’m already starting out with way less for this next one cause I got rid of a huge majority of the baby clothes a year ago. To my kids younger cousin when she was born.

Thanks for checking in! We thankfully were not hit as bad as we were supposed to be. We did end up evacuating because being without power with kids, 3 dogs, and being pregnant didn't sound fun! But because the hurricane shifted south more, our area wasn't hit bad at all! We only lost power at home for about an hour. We do have others in our community that lost power for a few days and had flooding though! So thankfully our neighborhood was just in a good location :)

I would say for the perfect fit they are true to size. I bought a 4-5 and they are bigger on my girls, but I did that purposefully so they would fit them longer. They still stay up on them! But the 2-3 would have been the perfect fit for their current size!

Curious if you've ever looked into minimalist footwear, especially for the girls.
@ariannapflederer6 жыл бұрын
Confused haha. Is that a specific brand or style? I showed their two pairs of shoes for the fall/winter season...which is definitely minimal. They just have tennis shoes and a pair of boots lol.
@britaneelilly81476 жыл бұрын
Yes you're right, their wardrobe is minimal! I worded that in an odd way. Minimal footwear allows the foot to move and grow naturally. Moccasins, barefoot shoes, and other "zero drop, wide toe box" flexible shoes allow this to happen. Shoes with narrow toes and heels do not. You guys are naturally based like our family so you may be interested to look into it. Our favorites are Carozoo, Starry Knight Designs, Livie and Luca, and for myself I LOVE my Merrell VaporGloves. ❤
@ariannapflederer6 жыл бұрын
Our girls wore moccasins for quite some time! I will have to look more into the actual idea though. I haven’t always been a fan of unsupportive shoes for kids, so the idea doesn’t really click with me. I will research more into it though 🙂

My son doesn’t have a ton of clothes which means they wear out faster because there aren’t as many in rotation so they aren’t able to be passed down to future kids. That’s probably because I got them at Walmart. :-/ I’ve been impressed with old navy and target (which are hand me downs from his cousin). I guess it pays to buy better quality.
@BreeandBaby6 жыл бұрын
I’ve also found that Walmart stuff really only holds up for one season, which is a bummer because the prices are awesome! Target’s Cat and Jack line and their Carter’s line are both pretty affordable (pants around $5-$9, shirts around $8-$10, outfit sets around $15-$20). I also love Kohl’s for clearance clothes and they have awesome sales all the time (they recently had a $6, $7, $8 sale on t-shirts, bottoms, and sweaters).

Sounds good in theory, but I have 2 boys and this number of clothes would not last the week. Plus, I love dressing them up for special occasions, as well as having worn out clothes for outside play. I don't buy everything new, though.

Very nice and practical clothing! I really dislike graphic clothing for kids or clothing with words or sayings...I find it very difficult to shop for my girls because all the shirts and sweaters have things written on them like “princess” “so cute” ...it’s not a great message to be sending in my opinion. How about stores just sell normal clothing and let the kids speak for themselves instead of their clothing!

Some sayings I don’t mind! But there are some that are absolutely ridiculous! Like “I’m always right” or some other saying making a joke of kids attitudes. So bad!!!

So I found this video interesting (as I do most of your videos Arianna). All the clothes you got the girls are super cute (the long sleeve shirts with the lower shoulder hem are ADORABLE)!! I have a question though. And I do NOT mean any disrespect by this. So, you mentioned that you're not a fan of graphic tees. Some of them, yes, are pretty crazy these days. However, what about the cartoon ones like Disney princesses/superheroes/tv show characters? The Minnie shirt was super cute! I feel like, as long as it's not offensive/vulgar/sending the wrong message, then I don't understand the concern. I guess, I feel like clothing is a form of self expression and even at their young ages, they should be able to express themselves (within limits of course, no question). Anyway, I'm not a parent, so I'm in no way judging. I think you're doing a great job with the girls. Just an honest question from an outsider's perspective. Hope all that made sense. And P.S. Still can't wait to find out baby girl's name :)
@ariannapflederer6 жыл бұрын
Definitely not disrespectful at all! No worries! As I mentioned, you need to sometimes put your kids interests above your own. And that is what I did! But, I don't think clothes are something that you NEED to do that with. With a capsule wardrobe, graphic tee's are not something that can easily be worn with several different pieces and work for several different occasions. I can easily dress up almost every piece of their clothing or dress down. Where as with the Minnie Mouse shirt, I can't! So it defeats the purpose of a capsule wardrobe :) I personally have just never been a fan of character shirts for kids. It's all opinion and preference...but I find 90% of them not cute at all 😬 And...right now, they are kids. I am the one spending my money on their things too. But, if they want to buy something with their earned money then they can go for it! Rev never asks for anything though except something from the ice cream truck or food in general. For the most part she see's things in stores she likes and says "wow that is so beautiful!" or "wow this is so cool"! But its a whole encompassing parenting moment. Teaching kids the difference between needs and wants, between what is practical and not practical, between what is self expression and what is just a materialistic want :) I most certainly as a parent want to make sure I let my kids be their own people, but that doesn't have to be done on an extreme level!

Haha! Minimalism is a way of living. I did a video on what it is a few weeks ago :) capsule wardrobe is the type of wardrobe many minimalists have. As for dressing up for weather...you kind of have to dress for the weather since the temperature changes so much! Haha. And decorating for holidays is totally normal. The only “season” people really decorate for is fall. Definitely something that has been happening here in the US for as long as I have been alive 🙂
