Amazing conversation, it's great to see where Ari Gold's character came from! Fragmentation is changing everything, tough waters for the studios to navigate!

I stopped watching television and Hollywood movies many years ago and I have never missed them at all. In fact, it gave me a lot more time for reading good books about a variety of subjects. TV and Hollywood are just gigantic industries that make tons of money by selling garbage entertainment to the American public and actually making people more brainwashed and more ignorant than they already are. This guy is a perfect example of what we should expect to see running an industry directed to creating and marketing garbage to the public. STOP CONSUMING THIS SHIT AND GO TO A GOOD BOOKSTORE INSTEAD. "Content is content - I am not here to say what is good content and what is bad content" - Exactly! As long as he can sell it, he does not give a damn about the content!" Well, at least he admits it honestly.

Yeah cause there are only garbage brainwashing movies around. Movies are also art you know, you decide if you wanna watch The Avengers or something more deep, sophisticated or intellectual.

Don't agree that 99¢ is too low for a song. Not by a long shot. That makes a 10-song album (which is a bit light) $9.99 - a very reasonable price for not having the CD and packaging, etc, which is usually $11.99-$14.99.

An immensely fascinating discussion about how "transmedia producers" monetize themselves, their social network, and their "effort." What I see as missing in that conversation is how the economics of abundance come into play. I don't think it's helpful though, to be absolutely stuck on content sharing = stealing. In order for the conversation to continue, we need to accept it and move on.

Content=Value. Value=Money. Ari's agency and his clients are not broke ass nerds in the Silicon Valley who will give out good content for free. Ari already built a name. He built the names of his client. So why should he be offering his content for free or a "fair" price. The market should dictate the price of his content...not some hackers who steal shit from companies. Screw that.

@ 22:43 - sounds like he's gonna buy the UFC...and then monetize its stars (mainly mcgregor) in movies. You heard it here first.
@lovelwilson
@lovelwilson 8 жыл бұрын
you mean hes already bought it sometime in july he did maybe june im not sure but the UFC is officially sold for 4 billion .....and my guess is he will do what you said and more i dono its unknown for now .. but its crazy how this interview was in 2010 or even earlier ... so hes been trying to buy the UFC for a long time and he finally got it now lets see what his big plan will be
@tiarnan76

yeh I was jst kidding (tyryna be wise after the event)...but yeh, and hes spot on about content - and people being able to go direct...but Amazon can offer a hell of a lot (for example) to smaller peeps like me and u, ie if u wanted to publish ure own book or sell goods via their FBA ....hes just chasing the big stars, but look how volatile that is especially after all the PED's being don by lesnar, jon jones et al... :)
@lovelwilson
@lovelwilson 8 жыл бұрын
ya Amazon is were its at lol ..its my go 2 for somethings i want ..... but ya i hope he Brings the UFC to a whole new level i believe he will .. and it is pretty shitty that lesnar and jon jones fucked up the UFC ..... right now Emanuel has a lil bumps and bruises to heal with his new baby first .. maybe thats why he hasn't revealed himself cuz i know the media would swarm him with all the BS thats been going on recently with the UFC ... i love the UFC it broke my heart when UFC 200 technically went to shit it really would of been 10 times better .. imagine if conor,jones and even lesnar were all in it ..it would of been a night to remember i think so atleast entertainment wise ... and i do MMA i love it and plan to go to the Jacksonwink gym to take it more seriously and mainly just to know if it really is for me .. if it is then im gonna be deep in that shit lol for as long as i possibly can if not then i'll look back on life when im way older and say ya i did that it was fun

Thats great, wish you the best of luck :)... I actually went to College in Crumlin (where McGregor is from)...and I think hes a big reason why they bought it...UFC's growth is phenomenal - so eventually thats gonna cross over into so many different things...I think Jones was unlucky, hes a great fighter and theres no way he'd need any shit...Lesnar on the other hand - look at the head on him...hes just a big mass of steroids n shit with zero skill...I hope the new owners break all the ties with WWE coz it lessens the value of the work the real fighters do...itd be like getting actual clowns to join an American Football team coz they have good jumping skills...and 1 million followers on twitter :)

haha Cheers .. im happy to go for it and so pumped to see how the real pros train cuz were i am isnt the the right place at all not for me atleast and im willing to get broken down and beat up a lil in training i need to know how it really feels and come back the next day stronger which is gonna happen regardless lol this fight stuff is no joke ...... and thats awesome!!! im guessing you saw him fight no ? and i agree Mcgregor has done huge things for the UFC and i guess he was that last push to make Ariel buy the UFC i bet Conor made him realize just how big the UFC can get and ya a sport only being 15 years old and worth 4 Billion is insane .... and ya i dont believe jon jones took stuff on purpose that day or his whole career hes one of my idols i do believe he was unlucky ...damn he missed out on like a 10 million dollar pay day .. and Lesnar well i got nothing to say hes just Dirty and i bet he knew he was but jumped in for those millions and walked away with no consequences.... and it is a lil unfair WWE stars just get a fast track to the UFC and make money like they've been fighting for years its nuts... i agree the new owners should cut those ties with them .. but i get the attraction with it the fact that a show business wrestler wants to fight it gives a huge Waw ok lets see .. i get it but its not right to give them a fast track

I understand why Mr. Emanuel is so concerned with piracy, but as a pirate i feel like he is the embodiment of greedy corporate culture trying to monetize everything. You should give a little before taking back much more, this style of preaching wants me to steal even more. No empathy.

@StilezC I've met and dealt with quite a few agents, and I can assure you , that's not the way it is done. Most agents are the some of most careful, diplomatic people I've ever met. Sure there is the occasional bully, like the legendary Mike Ovitz. But Ovitz pushed too hard and is no longer welcome anywhere in Hollywood. But my point was not his demeanor, but the fact that he was misinformed -- he didn't understand piracy or its causes. Although once we get angry, we've lost the argument.

He is a Ashkenazi Jew from Israel like Natalie Portman, Bar Refaeli, Esti Ginzburg, Alona Tal, etc. Most of the Jewish people in Hollywood are Ashkenazi, and they make up the majority of Hollywood. However, most of them are not citizens of Israel. Israel is a nation for all Jews of all races.

Piracy will NEVER be stopped - if a movie, tv show, etc can be viewed, it can be copied. Hollywood, accept this fact and figure out a way to deal with it and stop whining about 'stealing'. Musicians will still make music, filmmakers will still make films, but the middlemen like Ari who have gotten rich and powerful off the backs of their clients will happily disappear!
