I'm not familiar with this piece, but it seems like a masterful performance, and all the more so since done from memory. I must confess that I feel this is not (on first listen, anyway) Chopin's best work.... it takes a while to get going, it wanders about too much for my liking, and doesn't really seem to have a clear focus. The more virtuosic segments are impressive, but somehow don't seem to have a point. (As I said, these are only my first impressions.) Tangentially, I always find it humbling to hear such young players as yourself playing pieces that I would have difficulty with (or not be able to play at all). I was never a prodigy by any means & still am not a virtuoso (though my recent posting of Chopin's 'Military Polonaise' is not bad, though I say it myself ;-) ).

Excellent interpretation, but in the coda, the sixteenth notes have to be struck simultaneously with the underlying triplets. Chopin sometimes was very oldfashioned in his notation.
@mirrors110 жыл бұрын
Non sempre, infatti. In questo caso no.
@WilfriedHLingenberg10 жыл бұрын
Yes, also in this case. Chopin's notation in the autograph does not leave any doubt about this.

Not sure about the words "humor" and "confusion" in your description to characterize this complex masterpiece. It is like an organic improvisation and to me the words "melancholic", "heroic", "passionate", "feverish", "poetic" and "lyrical" would be more appropriate to describe the music, apart from the dramatic element. Liszt wrote quite negatively about it in his book on Chopin, and that didn't help to make the piece more popular. You are a very talented pianist with a clear mind, but to successfully convey the depth of all these moods, to bring more variety in touch, phrasing and sound and at the same time bring unity to the piece is not at all an easy task, maybe you are still too young to be able to do that. I think you have to think a lot about this music and art in general, gain more knowledge and experience...thanks for sending anyway!
