Ariel StoryLook Palette YAY OR NAY?

Hi Guys & Dolls!
It seems like the whole beauty community is smitten with the Ariel Storylook palette. Review after review rave about the packaging and just how "OMG ARIEL" the whole thing is. I'm not here to say those people are lying- I think many people will TRULY fall in love with the palette for it's clever and beautiful packaging, few stand-out shades, and will simply overlook its flaws. Because that's what you do when you're in love right?
Review in a Nutshell: If you were my best friend I would not recommend this to you; your $55 and mine are better spent elsewhere.

Exactly! The OZ palettes are a perfect example of well-done branded/collection makeup. Those were excellent in every way!

I stated this below in the comments, in the video, on my blog, and in the description box: I think some people will genuinely enjoy this palette- for their own reasons, just as I dislike it for mine. A friend of mine LOVES this palette, and I don't. She has zero agenda in liking it, just as I have zero agenda in disliking it. It's not always some conspiracy.

Hey- that's cool. As long as you know what you're buying I think that it's ok. It's like buying a top at forever 21. You know it's not quality/going to last, but you buy it anyway because it's cute.

Thank you soooo much for this review. I was on the fence about getting this even though the quality didn't seem that great because I love Ariel, but this video made up my mind. The dupes were awesome too, made me realize I already had most of the colors in the collection already, or something very similar. I watch your videos all the time but don't comment much but this was awesome and you saved me $55 so thanks again.

Your unbiased, honest opinion is so important to me and it looks to be the same for the rest of your viewers. I bought all three of the disney princess palettes hoping that the next one would be better quality because I really wanted to love them. Ultimately, I have them for the packaging and to sit in my collection and look pretty because the amount of times I have used them is really rather minimal. Sephora should have done better by us with these products.

I love honest reviews. I've had the same problem with themed palettes from sephora. I remember getting the hello kitty one like 2 christmas' ago and I returned it a few days later because it sucked. So I love seeing people looking beyond how "cute" a product looks and being honest about if it actually works.

I am totaly agree with you in things like quality of eyeshadows and the way someone have to build up the own collection. So many people think that pigmentation is the most important feature of quality, but that is simply not true. You know what your talking about and I love you for that ♥

I really appreciate this video, Cora. All I have been hearing is beauty bloggers raving about it - which I can understand. Ariel is a lot of people's favorite princesses (mine too) and admittedly I was pretty psyched about the palette from promotional images alone, but when you get down to it $55 for a bunch of crappy eye shadows doesn't justify pretty cardboard packaging. Especially when you can spend less than that and get say an Urban Decay palette or the like. So thank you for your honesty.

I could swear some of the positive reviews were from people who bought it. I think we all have different expectations of the palette. And I think this palette is ok if you have the managed expectation that these aren't going to be great. I just don't have room for expensive sub-par shadows in my collection.

So when I saw this it really wasn't what I had expected an Arial palette to be. I agree with you on the color red not being there, I mean seriously Ariel's hair is RED! I'm so glad you did this video. I saw this palette was available yesterday and SQUEEE'd about it because, well, it's ARIEL and I have all the love for Ariel, but the pallet as you know is around $45 and that seemed spendy. Now that I know the eyeshadow is utter crap I will not be buying. Did you get to try the nail polishes from this collection? I was curios about those too.

Have you tried using them with Mac fix +?? Then you could use urban decay's all nighter spray to give it extra hold. I haven't tried this but it could help them stay on.

i have the cinderella palette and have to say i am glad i grabbed that one and hesitated on the other two i wanted this one sooooo bad but there is a point where packaging is just a money sucker we are in it for the makeup, packaging is a nice bonus but the raw product is the meat and passion and i feel they took that away from something that could have been amazing. thank you for this honest response !!! Because I know when the first photos of the collection were released I was super underwhelmed with the color selection, but it seemed to be everyone was raving about it despite that.
