Typically love Gane but he did not want a sniff of an Aspinall or Pavlovich fight until they had the belt and title implications. understands the game but he doesn't play it the best as he's too obvious with his calculations on who he wants to fight when. It isn't fear but it's very clear biased matchmaking that Gane is trying to pull. Aspinall was in the crowd in UFC Paris, 2023, and Gane did not want to know. But as soon as Aspinall had the belt going into 2024, then he was calling for him.

Since I’m tired of reading nonsense in the comments, here’s my take to address all the stories I’ve been seeing. No one is afraid of anyone. Aspinall called out Gane only once, and it was after his fight against Tybura (who was ranked around 9th or 10th at the time). After UFC Paris 2, the Jones/Miocic fight was scheduled, and the possibility of both retiring was on the table. Gane didn’t call anyone out or respond to Aspinall’s callout because there was a chance of fighting for a vacant title, and the question was against whom. JJ/Miocic didn’t happen, Pavlovich was already the backup, and Aspinall got the interim title fight (which made sense since Gane had already had his title shot). About the movie: Gane has the lead role; it’s not just a cameo. The UFC was aware of this and gave the dates for the shoot. Gane wanted to fight between December and March before the filming began. He asked for Aspinall, but Aspinall was hoping for a fight with JJ and declined. The UFC then offered Pavlovich for UFC 300; Gane agreed, but Pavlovich declined (not out of fear but because he was coming off a loss and knew he wouldn’t be at his best for UFC 300). When filming started, the UFC tried to organize Aspinall/Gane. Gane replied that they would need to negotiate with the film production team. The UFC tried but couldn’t reach an agreement. That's it; both want the fight that brings in the most money, and that's the title fight.
