7:59 really got me because i’m a trans guy that can’t medically transition. financially i probably could but i have so many undiagnosable and therefore untreated health issues (one of them respiratory so i can’t bind either) that medically transitioning is a genuine risk to my health and as someone with really severe chest dysphoria that makes me very sad but i’m seeing what i can do but instead of wallowing in misery i’m letting myself be my femboy self because that’s who i am and i’m not gonna make myself miserable over the fact that i can’t transition or break my body binding anyway just because she thinks that we all have to fit her idea of being trans. she has no idea what it’s like and doesn’t give a shit about health she just wants us to bend over backward to be her perfect idea of a trans person. on another note luckily my voice is naturally very very low so i could probably pass in public not to everyone but to most people and i had a real high voice when i met my boyfriend and i’ve always without question been a guy to him and he’s cis so i don’t see why she sees the need to make such a big deal over it. she’s just making herself tired cause i’m not gonna make my life less happy for a person i’ve never met. i’m julian and that’s that and that makes me very happy.💛

@@Rainbowztars There's a transphobic "activist" group called the LGB Alliance (which Arielle actually supports and/or is a part of, I believe... but don't quote me on it). There are even trans people who are supporters of this group, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Jamie (Jammidodger) has done at least one video about them. I actually think Noah has also made a video about them. If you feel like getting infuriated (and learning more about it), I recommend watching their videos on the topic. So, while Julie's comment may have been a joke, that type of mentality (read: "LGB community") is 100% real. In terms of the queer community and queer activism, there is little worse than discrimination within the community itself; it's so damaging, especially when we're all fundamentally fighting for the same thing. It's just so disheartening and disappointing on so many levels. There's enough discrimination and misinformation thrown at queer communities from cishets; the last thing we need is to throw it at each other.

I feel like her response has offended so many people because she misunderstood Noah's points and is genuinely a bit ignorant despite having trans friends. Saying TERF is a slur is an overreaction in my opinion as it is just an ideology and the fact that she put that TERF website link in her description just solidifies my belief that she is one since it was just a bunch of our of context tweets saying that TERFs should die. She got defensive about Josh's video and just used it to talk about her views while making noah seem like the bad guy. I honestly think she doesn't view herself as someome who hates trans people. She however shares misinformation and regularly does things that hurt trans people. She is not as extreme as those terfs that literally call all trans women "sick" and "perverted" but the fact that she's more palatable is what makes her so much more dangerous to the trans community. Because there are a few things she says that many people will agree with, she'll warm people up to transphobic talking points which is really bad. It's kind of like things are with the alt right. Most of them can behave and are respected because they don't outright say they hate lgbtq+ people/ muslims/ non white foreigners/ jewish people / POC but they still get their audience into a headspace that opens them up to hateful talking points. (And who would have thought Arielle made a video with the manager of Candis Owens' charity - that might do some good work here and there - but also spreads misinformation about BLM and generally reinforces negative stereotypes about black people)

the sound you made when you started trying to do an american accent sounds like me when i try to imitate/make fun of a southern accent LMAO . anyway, there really is no "american" accent unless i guess you went for the plainest articulate english, but america is so big that different parts of the states have different accents, like i'm from new england (massachusetts/boston personally, and the little group of states in the northeastern-most corner) and there is a distinct Boston accent as well as a general new england accent which is similar but not as strong, then anything below maryland usually has some variation of a southern accent, theres a texas and midwestern accent which is similar to a southern accent in a lot of ways and then theres..... i dont know... whatever they do in california and the west coast (which i guess is what most people would consider a general american accent except i just picture surfer-dude voices and vocal fry like "du-uuuude, raaadical, those were some EPIC waves, braah!" "yah, totally bro, totally" ;)

Another problem with Arielle's "You're not trans until you medically transition" is what constitutes medical transition? I mean, Buck Angel and Chaz Bono have both had top surgery but not bottom surgery. Are Buck and Chaz women in Arielle's eyes? What Arielle is *really* saying is, "You're only trans if you are binary and can pass."

When she said (paraphrasing) "I believe it's a very entitled way of being to think people should respect your gender identity without you having to prove it first" yeah human beings are entitled to certain things!!! It's not hard!! We are entitled to basic respect from each other. That statement realllly rubbed me the wrong way. It's not even hard to remember pronouns omg. You know what's hard? Having to learn 12 different subjects for GCSE and 16 year olds do that! You can remember a lil she/her, they /them lol

I have seen where Noah did say shut up, and it is hilariously innocuous. "Like shut up... what are you doing?" He said that in a typical British "well, that's just silly" tone, not being remotely mean in his voice. I can kinda see why she didn't include that; he's such a nice bloke that he if she provided context, we'd see his intent. He also explains the video would be the same if it was a man saying that; he's not sexist. That is true, I don't notice him using any sexist terms, only using her pronouns.

If gender really was about how you're perceived that would mean a whole bunch of weird things. When I was 12-13 I had long hair and super feminine features, to the point where I was REGULARLY mistaken for a cis girl despite being a dude. Cis gay dudes or anyone who doesn't conform get bullied in a way that removes masculinity from them, in the minds of the bullies, to prevent them from it threatening their own masculinity. But when a trans woman relinquishes masculinity of her own volition, suddenly the table is flipped and her masculine traits are suddenly recognised as a way to bully or shame her. Bigotry isn't logical, it just serves to further human suffering, plain and simple. Arielle doesn't even understand what she wants, because her personality seems to be entirely based on being transphobic for clout.

I used to identify as a trans man, but realized that I wasn't taking it seriously and only liked dressing up like a guy. I still identify as being nonbinary and female, because I feel like it fits better than being male. There was a voice that said I was a guy, but I don't know where it came from. I decided to stop pretending and just be me. I'm AFAB and my pronouns are She/They. It used to be He/They before then. I still like being androgynous and dress up occasionally. I'm also panromantic, but also quoiaromantic/sexual. But I don't want Arielle, even as a friend, if she's shitting on trans people and GNC women.

@rodgrey19894 жыл бұрын
As someone who left the brainwashing that Canada and “woke “ western sociology schools push now a days. Yeah, TERF is a slur, having a term to shit down conversation and demonize a view point is always a slur. Wether for good or bad. And simply put, the fact that some want the opinions of TERFs blocked from being analyzed, shows how reactionary and close minded some echo chambers are. People don’t have to think like us to be right or partially right. And the TERFs seem to have some valuable points even though the presentation is found needing. Leave your echo chambers, it’s so freeing not to hate.
@CopsHateMoe4 жыл бұрын
Rod Grey I’m sorry but by your logic here racist would also be a slur because it can be used “to shut down peoples opinions and demonise them” and to a certain point I think it’s justified, since terf/racists are shutting down and demonising a minority. But obviously I don’t think conversation itself should be shut down, because without (respectful) discourse we will never progress. But I think that saying TERF is a slur is EXTREMELY disingenuous, and it pretty much mocks people who have had actual slurs used against them. Being a “gender critical” or whatever you want to call it isn’t an identity or race, it’s a political ideology. You may not like the term “TERF” I’m sure many racists don’t like the term “racist” (just want to clarify I’m not calling you a terf or racist haha I don’t know you so I can make any judgements) I agree that there are many close minded echo chambers within the LGBT community, but I can also say the same thing about the anti-trans community, and in fact I think it is far more prevalent there than it is in the LGBT community.
@clegs83564 жыл бұрын
Rod Grey sooo like, TERF is just an acronym. It’s an abbreviation of four inoffensive words that are describing a subset of people identifying as feminists: Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists. No part of this is derogatory. It’s like calling a white supremacist racist and then they go “wtf thats so fkn rude”...?? It’s like, ever consider NOT contributing to the oppression of marginalized communities? “TERF” pretty much arose out of distinguishing between the words & actions of intersectional feminists, and “radical feminists” spreading fear and misinformation about “prEdAtOrY mEn iN dReSsEs” or “butch lesbians being PRESSURED into transition bc of MISOGYNY!!!”... clearly, these groups have different priorities, despite all falling under the “feminist” label. When the term gained traction, and TERFs received appropriate backlash for their crappy views, they doubled down, got defensive, and started insisting that it’s a slur. So, no. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for TERFs victimizing themselves in this way while they actively fight to take away the rights if trans people. This is not to say I think they are all evil, despicable, irredeemable people - I think many are misguided, or actually just lashing out as a reaction to their past trauma. But nonetheless, TERFs who consistently refuse to listen to trans people, or develop any sort of empathy for them, aren’t exactly in my good books. I would be happy to sit down and discuss with someone what life experiences have led them to hold their current beliefs, and will do so civilly, until the point at which they persist with words or actions that jeopardize the health and wellbeing of already marginalized people. Sorry this was long. Also, I’m not sure who hurt you, but I do hope you’re doing better now. 💙
