Im from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I had a gas powered Ariens for years. Me and a few neighbors used to take sections of our back alley every time it snowed and cleared it with our snowblowers. We were faster than our city. On our crescent all our cookie cutter houses we have detached garages with back alley access to them. So if our alley wasn't cleared our street had very limited parking.. i can say in all honesty my ariens snowblower worked out awesome. Never had a problem in all the years i had it. And we had a few years with deep snow like your video. I was amazed at how well that machined worked and never had any problems with it ❤❤❤ Now i have a small Kubota tractor with a front mount snowblower. That is a real game changer.❤❤❤❤

Wow, that is a lot of snow! If at all possible, one needs to attack the snow before it gets over a foot deep even it means blowing snow in the middle of the night. I don't know if there is a walk behind snow blower made that can make its way through that much snow without backing up a few times. Enjoyed watching you and your machine get through that deep snow. Lots of work, great job.

Like I tell other youtubers that snow blow. Slow down the speed of the machine and you will struggle less with it and the machine will not need to work as hard.

Rule number 1…don’t ever ever let it get that deep.hit it at 1 foot..

I remember when we'd get snow that deep in Chicago. Now, all we get here is above average temperature winter months, so all of the snow is just slush and rain. I haven't needed to use my snowblower for the last four winters.

Use a lower gear, your tires keep spinning when stopped by the snow bank. Also, with snow amounts above your bucket it is best to knock the pile down with a shovel. It makes things easier on your machine.

If you get that much on a regular basis at least invest in a set of drift cutters. Should help a little bit

This gentleman is doing the snow blowing correctly. When the snow is 10-12 inches above the auger housing the only technique that works is to go forward as far as possible, back up and repeat the process until the first row is completed. Then take smaller cuts on each subsequent row until all the snow is cleared. Chains don't help much under these conditions nor does slowing the forward speed, the machine cannot move a wall of snow taller than the auger housing. Drift cutter blades would help somewhat.

You're forcing the snowblower too much, you don't need speed or force, you need technique...let the machine do the work a little at a time. I had a snowblower for over 30 yrs....I've learned much about technique in that time..that's a lot of snow you have there!

Rather than blow all that snow on your neighbors land for them to just blow it back to you, isn't there any sort of ice compressor that could make some ice blocks out of compacted snow that you could snack next to the storm drain when things thaw out? Too bad there wasn't some sort of snow plow bus service to take commuters to work in the morning.
