This is our 3rd decent size storm of the year.
In some snow drifts the snow went above the handle bars.
The Ariens 28 inch Deluxe SHO ate up the snow like it was a snack.
Thanks for watching.

You don’t need the drift cutters often, but when you get drifts like that there worth their weight in gold! That 28 SHO is the best value in a snowblower IMHO. Nice video of an Ariens working hard in deep snow….thanks for sharing!

the drift cutters definitely help with cutting the drifts down, I would of liked them to be longer but these still work. I did notice the drift cutters bend easy. one of my drift cutters is all mangled up. caught in the edge of a ice bank and it bent, ill need to put it in the vice and straighten it out. @@blowingsnow4fun They are definitely a lower grade steel as I can bend them by hand as it bent then I bent it back straight and continued. I was thinking in my head, WELL.... That didn't last long LOL As years go on, we are paying higher prices for lesser quality on a lot of things. I like the blower don't get me wrong. I do have some complaints but overall am happy with it.

@@LUCAMTire I would really have a tough time bending mine by hand. Same here in the US. Every year more cheap Chinese crap that doesn’t hold up. Profits before quality had become the way of the world. I have two vintage snow blowers I still run. Everything on them is heavy duty, made to last 30 years or more. Ariens machines are still built pretty well, and there engineering is very good, but the gauge of the metal is so much thinner compared to the old machines.

I have this 28 HO and it's a beast! Especially for the money. I have about a 100 yards of blacktop to clear. Used to have a 13/30 John Deere that was like steering a tank and this Ariens is so much easier with the Auto turn. Make sure your blower is set up correctly and tires are inflated properly and Auto turn rocks! Used to routinely break shear pins on the JD and in 3 years have yet to break one on the Ariens. To anyone reading this, don't listen to the people whining about the Auto turn. Nothing is perfect but this is way easier to run.

I had my left auger shear pin break on my 28 SHO with just the pin stuck in the axle drive. I was able to use just the right auger with 2 days left in the Buffalo Blizzard of 22. I knocked down the 3 feet of mixed snow and ice chunks down to a foot and just worked with the right side of the machine and it got the job done. When it warmed up 4 days after the storm I was able to line the auger up with the other one and punch out the remaining pin with a drift pin punch and replace the shear pin. I am so glad I bought an Ariens SHO and I highly recommend it!

I live in south Buffalo and as you know we get pounded with snow. I am currently debating on buying this platinum sho 28 rapidtak but also am looking at the platinum 30 sho with tires which is 414cc. My question is , do you ever find yourself wishing your platinum 28 engine had more power in this Buffalo snow? Also if you had your choice to get the 28 sho rapidtrak & the 30 sho regular wheels at the same price, which 1 would you choose

Wow!! This Sho model is throwing snow like there's no tomorrow! I've been considering the same one 2023. I've seen some reviews regarding the Auto Turn giving them a struggle with unexpected jerks to the left or right from previous models. Have they improved Auto Turn? After seeing you passing by your trailer and car I feel somewhat relieved. I to have the same type of situation and wouldn't want an unwanted jerk into one or the other. What's your take on yours in regards to Auto Turn.... Thanks for sharing this video, it gave me a different perspective for sure. 👍😊
@LUCAMTire
@LUCAMTire Жыл бұрын
I do not have a issue with the auto turn. In some types of snow you will get a bit of a pull or from a slope or drag. If you know your going into a hard bank or the blower is going to drag hard on one side due to a rut or weird slope or something you can prepair yourself for it. A solid locking axle will do the same In a awkward scenario. If your at a manageable speed you should be able to act fast enough before knocking anything. First few initial times of using it, it would wiggle or jar a bit but more of user error then anything. Overall I can plow it into a pretty heavy wet snow bank and not have it kick out. But it also has to do with cutting the bank back in portions for the blower to go through as you only have some much weight and so much traction. Happy with the blower so far. No real big complaints as of now. Other then needing to grease up the drive system as I have a squeek can't complain.

@@LUCAMTire Thanks for the great info. I totally agree, cutting the bank in portions is the best way to go along with being in low gear. In heavier and/or deep snow I normally blow with 2/3rd's of the housing in the low gear range. Seems to be much easier on both the SB and myself.....LOL. Speaking about that, would the Ariens want to think you're wanting to turn by cutting the snow with 2/3rd's or would it still hold a decent straight line? Thanks again for sharing your video and your personal information / perspective. It truly has helped me in making a decision. 👍😊

@@rapaent I usually take full bucket fulls if it is still snowing. It may over spill a little but would still need to come back at a later time to clean up remaining snow that is still falling. If storm is complete depending on depth of snow. 2/3rds to full bucket. Different conditions for different actions. I have a few other videos of the blower in action. Will be releasing a few more coming soon. Like an subscribe 🤪 Holds a pretty good straight line. 👌 But also make sure to set the blower shoes so the cutting edge does not dig into pave. When the cutting edge catches a lip or edge is when your blower will kick side ways.

@@Jeremie661 no I do not have the front weight kit. I figure their is enough weight on the front already and stays on the ground good as is. If the weight was on the tires for traction I would put some weight but rather not make the tires work harder to move extra weight. I never had a problem with belt slipping or jumping. The friction wheel from time to time gets s little dump depending on snow. And i need to give the blower a minute to start moving again. I ran the blower into a pile of snow in 4th gear so dense it it bogged the motor down almost to a idle. Just wanting to see how much it could take. Stopped for a sec and Rev come back up and I continued. I am starting to get a little squawk when reversing. Thinking it is a dry bushing I need to lube

There are a lot of things that I just can not understand about this video. First off, I can never understand why people used their garage as another room instead of what they were designed for... which is to keep their cars in them. It would make the clearing so... much more easier without having those vehicles in the way. Throwing a lot of that snow to the front of your house also makes no sense to me. It seems in the video that you have a lot of area on the opposite side of your driveway... so why isn't the snow going there? And lastly... throwing snow over where you have already cleared is another foolish thing. I am not knocking anyone, but I just see things that make no sense.

Garage is for work or storage of extras. Not so much for parking. odd time a vehicle melt off from the ice and snow and salt. Storing a vehicle inside covered in salt and ice, fluctuation of cold to hot and vice versa will rust a vehicle faster especially with salt in the water from the roads being salted. Less humidity build up in the vehicle and garage as well when parking outside. better to leave the vehicle outside in the cold frozen for ice to fall off verses trying to melt them every day. moisture, salt and not being driven is the worse things for a vehicle. Also should not have a parking spot on a lawn. the moisture and gasses given off will rust the bottom side of a vehicle. our yard is on a slope Throw snow into the section your referring to up hill or against the wind and when drifts or snows after banks or drifts would be higher and more work to move, and or when it melts and all the snow is up hill water runs downhill towards garage, driveway and house. Throw snow down hill and when snow melts water runs away from garage, driveway and house. I will take less drifting in the drive way and the water running away from the garage, driveway and house before towards it all. Goal is less water running towards the driveway and structures. water that sinks below the surface of a structure or drive way that is on a slop the water finds a way below or around a structure and if freezes can cause damage, or the water running under a slab or road of some sort can create water channels or pockets underneath the surface their fore making weak spots below the surface. Can cause sinking or foundation cracking. Vehicles kept in the yard yes untill the snowbank is moved at the road. move vehicles out through a snow bank potential getting stuck and more work, it will also pack the snow bank further and harder to move after vehicles pass through it. keep the vehicles close to the garage so snow drifts farther away from the building. as the wind needs to go around the vehicles moving snow farther out, majority of snow ends up near the road when parking vehicles close to the garage, Can not park vehicles on the street during a snow storm as the plows will burrier your vehicle as they need to go around you. The House is farther ahead of the garage. so putting snow in front of house is a better solution on the downward slop of the hill instead of the top of the hill for when snow melts or when the snow is drifting. It would definitely be easier tossing the snow to the other side if it was all level but with drifting or melt off would cause more problems ahead. hope this helps the understanding.

Agreed, Some of this video just makes no sense. Why blow snow where you just cleared when you don't have to?
@LUCAMTire
@LUCAMTire 2 жыл бұрын
@@THEBHGROUP1 I could have started on the upper section (side away from house) so no snow would dust the drive way but i would still need to come back and clean up the over flow that fell out of blower anyways so it did not make much of a difference to me. I was not going to do 1/8-1/4 cuts with the blower to be perfectly clean the first time. lol Would of took double the time. Some spots it looks like i am throwing the snow in my tracks but the wind was so strong that day the snow hardly touched the ground once sent into the air. It was still snowing and snowed a extra 5-10cm after this so none the less I had to clean up a good amount the following day. The video is more showing the performance of the blower and not so much me telling you how to blow snow. But that would be a good topic to cover in a video. Might cover that topic next time. Thanks
