Part 13: • Aries Spears: Megan's ...
Part 1: • Aries Spears: Any Man ...
--------
Comedian Aries Spears and Vlad discussed the issue of snitching and cooperation with the police. Spears pointed out that there are times when it is necessary to cooperate with law enforcement, even within the "no snitching" code. He used the example of a serial killer living next door, saying he would definitely report them to the police. Vlad mentioned Cam'ron's infamous interview where he said he would move if his neighbor was a serial killer rather than tell the police. Spears responded by saying that there are different types of Black individuals, from those involved in crime to those going to Ivy League schools, and that both can be legitimately Black. However, he believed that if someone is truly about that life, they would take matters into their own hands and eliminate the threat themselves. The conversation also touched on the concept of snitching being used to exploit young individuals.

It's not about being black. If you're a criminal or live by a criminal code, you don't snitch. If you're a regular, law-abiding citizen, it's not snitching. It's telling and it's the right thing to do.

Not really, by not snitching it hinders the case. If nobody talks, if nobody is a witness, there's a good chance the case is thrown out or an aquital is made. One of the reasons why snitches is so hated is that they shine light on a case. When the case could be left in darkness. King Von was the perfect example of that. He and his OG did a murder and get caught. The OG gets to cooperating and talking, while Von remained silent and lets the lawyers do the talking. Von never admitted to being at the scene of the crime. His OG confessed to being at the scene, but not being the trigger puller. Von gets released do to not enough evidence, while the other dude got 20+ yrs for admiting being there. If you are going to play the game of crime, you must know and follow the rules of the game. Or you and your team is gonna lose.

Why do y’all think one person gets to take advantage of another then dictate to them HOW they resist? I’m genuinely curious if ppl who think this way have thought this through. To be CLEAR I understand the distinction that if WE commit crimes together and I tell on you that is a violation of an implicit code WE agreed too. But like people just born in the wrong neighborhood are under ……what?! obligation to help you exploit that neighborhood? The police are just a TOOL to mitigate certain types or risk, just like a gun, learning to fight or arguably even joining a gang in the first place. Sounds eerily similar to how slavers reacted to slave revolts, to me. But maybe I don’t know everything I’ve my adjacent too but intentionally kept my distance from from things that seem exploitative. Make it make sense.

I feel like a lot of people forget that these codes only apply to street folks. Not everyday citizens lol. Now, if I commit a crime with you, and I get caught fair and square, it's definitely a rat move to tell the police on you to lessen my own charges. If you're an everyday citizen and you come home to find your home was robbed and ransacked, you should call the police to help you. The idea of these codes is you don't tell the police or government about matters that you or whomever want to handle yourselves on the street in likely not so legal ways. This absurd idea that everyday people are snitches for calling the police when shit happens to them makes no sense.

If you are a normal law abiding citizens there's no such thing as snitching. Snitching is a part of the criminal code and if you are not a criminal you did not accept that code. Snitching is A you are a member of a criminal organization and you tell law enforcement on members of an opposing criminal organization in response to harm they've caused you and your organization, or B you are a member of a criminal organization and you tell law enforcement on members of your criminal organization to avoid a lengthy sentence for a crime you are privy of or have direct involvement in.

Snitching- only when you are involved in wrong or unlawful activity and you get caught or jammed by an authority and you tell or give incriminating info on a organization or other individuals involved. If I tell someone is selling drugs in my neighborhood but I’m not involved at all, that’s telling not snitching. If I sell drugs too, that’s snitching or if me and my buddies sell drugs and I get caught and they don’t or we all get caught and I speak on anything other than myself, that’s snitching.

Snitching applies to those who run the streets, not law abiding citizens 👍🏾

Snitching went from a code of the streets to just a code of everyday life... example, internal affairs deals with corrupt cops and who doesn't like a tattletale?

I thought 60 Minutes asked Cam'ron if he would snitch on a pedophile living next door and he answered that he would move out. I might be mistaken but Cam'Ron touched on how even cops don't snitch on their own (the bad apples).

50 cent broke down this so excellently. For argument sake what Cam’ron is referring to is like a Preacher not a Jeffery Dahmer. A lot of people aren’t telling

people say dont snitch bc its harder to make a case without someones testimony. not preying on young, if grown men get caught up same rules apply. by telling YOURE closing the case. any manipulative opportunistic person will do whatever to survive. thats hood, corporate, military, politics, religion. people love to attribute shit to the hood as if it doesnt happen across the board. A code is about ethics, every profession has it.

Theres an interview with Matt Cox on Big Herc channel, its the last part when they are closing off the interview and Matt admits he cooperated/snitched with the police and the look of Big Herc face is priceless, he gets so mad and confronts him, and Matt goes "fuck that street code, over 90% of cases get done bc someones talked" lol. I mean if you are a criminal thats supposed to be your code, you dont talk, if you are a law abiding civilian its not snitching bc they dont live by those codes, however the reality is very different to the "code", mfers be singing like canaries

As Charleston white said, black people are influenced by and highly respect thugs, gangbangers, and criminals and people like Camron who spread this no-snitching policy nationally on 60 minutes influenced a lot of black people especially criminals which has spread throughout the black community.. Rappers, who, are a lot of former criminals and gangbangers control the minds of black people especially the youth through their music and behavior. It's sad but that's how it is.
