Peter Obi Calls For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release + Tinubu Condemns Borno Suicide Bombings | W/OjyOkpe

Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan, set social media abuzz, after stating in a now viral video, that she would never return to the the presidential villa, because the stress of Nigeria is too much.
Mama P, as she is fondly called, made the statement at a colloquium organised to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
This is all coming as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condemned the bombing attacks, by female suicide bombers, who ambushed funeral and wedding ceremonies, in Gwoza, Borno State over the weekend, with reports indicating that about 18 people were killed in the incident, and scores injured.
The President, in a release issued on Sunday by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, declared that the purveyors of wanton violence shall have a certain encounter with justice, adding that the cowardly attacks are only but an isolated episode as his government will not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.
Senator Shehu Sani at the alumni reunion of Government Science College, Kagara, in Niger State over the weekend, claimed that security challenges in Northern Nigeria, have improved under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that insecurity was worse under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Abia State Lawmaker, Obi Aguocha, over the weekend, sought the support of former President, Muhammadu Buhari for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Aguocha, who visited Buhari, at his country home in Daura, Katsina state, apologised on behalf of Kanu for his missteps and ill gestures, adding that a political resolution would address the concerns of the aggrieved parties and promote unity within the country.
His plea comes as up to 50 members of the House of Representatives, who identified themselves as Concerned Federal Lawmakers for Peace and Security in the South-East, asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to direct the attorney-general of the federation; Lateef Fagbemi, to invoke Section 174 of the 1999 constitution to release the IPOB Leader.
Peter Obi, has also called on the Federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu, citing the court rulings that granted him bail.
Obi spoke to journalists at his residence in Onitsha on Sunday. He described Nigeria as being on the brink of failure and emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law.
Reactions have trailed the purported plans by the federal government to implement four national budgets concurrently as disclosed by a civic-tech organization BudgIT.
The organization in a post on X over the weekend stated that,
It is worrisome that the Federal Government is drafting a 2024 Supplementary Budget; to be implemented alongside the 2023 Approved Budget the 2023 Supplementary Budget, and the 2024 Approved Budget, further describing the FOUR budgets at once-an unprecedented anomaly.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election; Peter Obi, reacting to the news; condemned the federal government in a post on X, stating that operating multiple budgets concurrently, amounted to a blatant disregard for fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability.

Biden however delivered an outstanding performance at a rally over the weekend, on the heels of the debate. He told his supporters that he is fit to run for a second term despite his old age, although he admitted that his age has affected his fluency, but he insisted that he could do the job.
Son of Veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, on Sunday, shared a video of his father online, to dispel rumors of his death circulating on social media.
The death of the 81 year old acting legend has been rumoured a number of times since November 2021, when his actress wife, Joke Silva, opened up about his struggles with dementia.
His family has debunked such death rumors several times, posting videos such as this one to discredit rumour-mongers.
Olu Jacobs began his career on stage in 1972, and has been hailed by many as one of the greatest and most widely respected African actors of his generation.
Rufai Oseni, over the weekend opened a new healthcare facility aimed at improving access to basic medical services in his hometown of Odogbolu, in Ogun State.
The centre is set up to operate in collaboration with existing health care facilities in the area, and aims to support Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Thank God for Rufai, Nigerian rich people are just selfish! The government can not do these by itself, even in foreign countries. There is a 100-room ultramodern Hospital (l Little Company of Mary) in the City of Torrance in Southern California that is a missionary hospital Many citizens donate overwhelmingly to this hospital in millions of dollars. The government has public hospitals but individuals are doing their part too. What would it cost to rent a 2 bedroom apartment in an existing building with a front yard that people can sit 2 times a week to get medical attention? If Rufai, a journalist, can do this for his people, the billionaires should follow and do even better. We don't need a building! A 2-3 bedroom apartment on the ground floor in front of a good building with sitting space will suffice. and basic equipment; volunteer nurses and doctors, part-time medical workers, and we are set. I am taking up this challenge myself to do more for the country. I always gave food but will look for partners to join in this kind of venture too. What will you do?
